Draft Review 2017 - Revisit the 2017 AFL draft

We could take Dangerfield and Pendlebury as free agents and you'd still say Freo shot themselves in the foot. Your obsessive hatred for Ross Lyon and anything purple is so sad, seriously dude get laid.

believe me i do

you just dont like hearing the harsh reality. when have i ever been wrong?

i got smashed on here in 2015 by the purple haze by trying to tell their fans their teams performance wasnt as good as they thought it was and there were very serious issues facing that side if they didnt re-adjust then. i was abused. i was even told they were statistically the most dominant side of all time at the same point of the season. turned out i was right. fell off the cliff. didnt even make a grand final.

i got smashed telling people weller never wanted to be at freo and was disappointed with the draft outcome. i know for a fact he was massively homesick before a decent freo contract renewal hit his manager. ended up leaving.

cerra is the same as well, similar to balic. brayshaw less so. brayshaw probably stays but cerra is a massive flight risk.

Carlton clearly won this draft... The 0 games and 0 goals from their recruits speak for itself.

The other 17 teams clearly lost, as their players have only combined for 0 games and 0 goals.
Carlton’s recruits actually combine for 17 games and 10 goals. North’s recruits combine for 63 games and 27 goals. So I think they beat you pretty comfortably. All other 16 teams though have failed.

They have the weakest key tall department in the league though. They need a FF, CHB and FB for the future. They only have a CHF in Moore.
Must be pinning hopes on next years Mega draft for a quality KP and of course they are getting Tom Lynch as a FA from Gold Coast. As we hold their 2018 second rounder I'm hoping Pies have another poor year.

For needs, we’re pretty standard but for talent, the Pies were in the top few especially when considering our draft positions. Stephenson to many including myself was a top 3 talent this year, and Nathan Murphy was one of the steals of the night - elite mark, great kick, accurate in front of goal etc. the hype was deserved. We should have used our last pick though, preferably on a Jordan Butts or someone like that.

Thanks for coming :thumbsu:
Miller could be a very good pick!

One observation, that in a supposedly weaker draft, most supporters seem very happy (even accounting for the usual BigFooty hyperbole). As ever, time will tell.

I am happy because the Swans drafted for genuine needs.

I do find it quite interesting though that the Swans rated Ling higher than Richards as they both seem to be players who play in similar position. Time will tell which was the better option.

Odd that saints fans are saying Cerra looked devastated. I reckon Coffield looked filthy he was one pick off uniting with his idol in Bont and best mate in Lipinski. Reckon he shot daggers at Naughton standing next to him in a dogs jersey.

Tbh not a fan of what we did tonight. Don’t really understand it. Only time will tell though.

Lol obrien a reach a Brayshaw is solid all over

Is that what you want with a pick 2, a solid player ? not even close to as good as Angus and quite a few people didn't have him top 10, pretty sure Brett Anderson had him at 11 and said some clubs felt the same way.
LOB would have been taken by the Swans at pick 13, is probably the best kick in the draft and has an elite tank to go with it, so we reached 3-4 picks, was still the best mid still available IMO, so I'm happy.

mark my words. like i said with weller on draft night, cerra will leave if he's any good. i think brayshaw will too. the only time victorian freo listed players stay in the last say 5 years is when they arent that much chop, as soon as there's interest they're out

The Brayshaw's are originally from Perth and I think his Grand Parents still live there , not to mention Hamish is at WCE now, so wouldn't stress about him going home. Cerra might not be happy now but i reckon he ends up staying.

Pick 53 could again be the biggest draft steal.
Sydney would have to be stoked getting Ryley Stoddart who had been rated a lot higher.
