The other thing to remember is that we are the bottom team by a long way. someone being good enough to be best 22 at Brisbane at the moment doesn't make them good enough to make it as an afl player.

Would Bewick have got to 100 games at any other club over the period of his (7 year) career?

I'd agree that N Robbo has been most improved on the list this year and I'm not saying there isn't more growth there but as a 4th year player averaging 13 disposals a game as a 'hard running' half back flanker is only just passing mustard. The challenge for him is to average say 16-18 disposals a game in the second half of the year as Mayes and Cutler do.
So, what was that post, a bob each way I reckon  ;) Agreed he needs to keep improving but at least it is a start that we haven't been seeing from previous coaching.

Exactly what i was implying. Definitely not saying he hasn't 'improved' but more he has a long way to go.

what about Fletcher Roberts/Shane Biggs from the Doggies played the Grand Final be worth a look.
I think Roberts is OOC this year.

We need a small forward and I'm thinking Jack Lonie from St.Kilda, who will be out of contract at the end of this season, might be worth trying to lure to Brisbane.

Touch of class there.

I'm feeling Jack Lonie from Stkilda also :)

There was also a Sydney article regarding Tippett being on notice, Ruck/Fwd backup? If Schache does leave I would enjoy a Hipwood/Tippet masterclass

No to Tippet. Always seems out injured and is more of a ruckman than forward

Could you honestly say no to Tippett on the cheap to be a big body in contests and chop out in ruck if Martin doesn't play

Fagan might. He said very recently they'd only bring in players who will be around when we're pushing for our next premiership.

He would have to be MIGHTY cheap
He wouldn't come too cheap for the first year. He has one year left on his contract with the swannies. So we would have to pay that for the first year.
But in relation to draft picks you would have to give up, the swans would be pretty happy to get rid of him because of their salary cap pressure. So i would imagine you wouldnt have to give up much. 4th rounder at best i reckon.

Swannies would be wanting to pay some of his contract as well for that last year

Wanting to or would have to? Just to get rid of him.

Tippett is still a solid player. although having a pretty poor year this year.

Last year he kicked a goal a game and averaged 25 hitouts a game (i.e. he was their #1 ruckman) over 17 games. The year before 44 goals from 22 games with 17 hitouts a game.

If the club were to get him then I wouldn't be dissapointed. It's stil possible at this point that schache, McStay and Close all walk out on the club. in that scenario I think he'd be welcome on the list.

Love the way Lonie and especially Gresham go about it. Would be throwing cash at them but I highly doubt they would leave Saints.

I wonder more about Alir Alir. Is he really the real deal or a Brennan type flashy but inconsistent? CHB... hmmm

Alir Alir is certainly one worth looking at. Not getting a game so wouldn't be that happy after such a solid year in 2016. Shows flashes of brilliance thrown in with poor judgement. But you would think he would be handy for our club down back.

Mind you Swans won't have Grundy for much longer so i don't think they would be keen to lose him. And what's he worth? Noble/Fagan quite rightly want to rebuild through the draft and will only bring in quality through the trade table.

Worth an inquiry and see where he is at and whether Swans would entertain it. But like i and many others have said here we are not a club players want to play for.

I vaguely recall during commentary in a game this year the commentators mentioning he wasn't getting a run as his off field preparation wasn't all it could have been this season.

no suggestion of drinking etc. but more just generally not as fit as he should have been.

Our spine is looking very strong going forward.
Schache
Hipwood
Berry
Andrews
Skinner
If we are going to trade we should be looking at moving on some talls in exchange for mids, pacy small forwards and smaller backs. I don't know if any exist as realistic FA targets but maybe there are some clubs with some talented smaller players not getting game time that could do with Freeman or Close or Hammer or Martin?
