That was indeed a nasty way to phrase it. Apologies.

Dan has a tendency to suggest trades that most people would not consider.

And you know what? Good on him. He comes to this board, shares his opinion and does it in a respectful way. We don't have to agree with his posts but he is a good bloke and a good contributer.

The only bit of criticism I have for you DanT7 is suggesting we sign Claye up long term ;)

In fairness, we aren't really dealing in reality, are we?

Mine would involve keeping Claye, obviously?

Also, huh? I don't get why that'd be me?
I appreciate your input and enjoy your posts. Was just a bit of tongue in cheek on my behalf. Claye is going unfortunately but he's had a fairly decent career given his injury problems one must admit. 7+ years is a great effort considering. Must have been tough for him.

Cool. Just didn't get it. Still don't but all good.
Clearly not clever enough to understand.

I support the Suns and I've seen almost every single Suns game and trust me we do not want Matera. I think the Lions as a club have moved past having blokes on the team that play for themselves. He's talented when he wants to be. CC busts his arse off every game I've seen of the Crows. Sure he isn't the talent of Matera but he doesn't give up and plays the team game. IMO it's a no brainer and I'd choose CC every day of the week.

I watch the crows every week too. And trust me we don't want to be using a late first rounder for Cameron. For that sort of pick you want someone who is good around goals. Bruest and Gunstan (although a bit older) are worth that for sure.

I agree with the no-brainer part. Just disagree on the outcome:

Matera for 3/4 rounder > Cameron late 1st rounder
That's a no-brainer.

Yes on Jack Martin too, he's a gun. Pick 14 no worries. Doubt he'd come to us though, GC would do everything to hold on to him.

Interesting that GC drafted so many WA lads and they are all leaving or left - Bennell, O'Meara leaving.
Now rumours on Swallow, Matera, Martin... All top players. Real problems at GC

As with email, often the meaning gets lost in transmission. I don't get half of what's posted here. :)

Agree on Cameron but they'll want a lot more for Matera and Martin.

Also this cracker:

Dayne Zorko to Hawthorn in exchange for Taylor Duryea and a first-round draft pick.
- Luke Franklin, Perth WA

We've been discussing it for a page now Beng.

Thought Fagan's reply was reasonable & balanced. Must admit the Crows must being getting p**sed off with 3 players being targeted by other clubs (sound familiar) Think Pyke has over reacted though & better served by keep eye on a flag

I agree.

I mean, it's ok for endless speculation re Rockliffe, both this season and last, but the moment there's anything coming the other way, then it's "ethics".

Spare me- for once it's nice for the boot to be on the other foot. Just great.

And if there wasn't anything to it, how easy would it be for Charlie to put out a denial.

Last- wouldn't Cameron be a great addition. Last year I thought he was their best, and importantly, their best when the chips were down.

If that was the case they would have got rid of him when they dumped Bennell and Dixon.

Matera is a gun when fit but I agree it looks like he has lost interest at the suns.

Matera has pace (not like Cameron) but he's quick. I think his often lack of defensive pressure is due to mindset. I'd definitely back him in for a 3rd rounder and hope we could turn that around. His skills are elite and he should be achieving way more than he has been
Yeah Matera isn't as slow as treacle... well maybe if it's his turn to chase. When there is a goal on offer he can move his way through traffic easily but other than that he is fairly useless. He makes Green look like an elite 2 way runner and that's saying something. Also shares Greens goal hogging ability.
I could be wrong, but my impression has always been that Matera's extremely slow for a small forward and relies mostly on anticipation and positioning.

At worst Cameron would give us a significant boost in defensive pressure, whereas Matera would actually make us worse in that area. We're doing pretty well already when it comes to scoring despite our forward line not being the most dangerous going around, what we really lack there is pace.

I'd take Breust, but he re-signed last year and Gunston this season is basically a slightly improved version of Lester.
