It's one thing for a players manager to listen to offers etc., but to meet a club and its players is disrespectful to the current club.

I seem to remember Michael Rischitelli and Daniel Bradshaw meeting with Carlton, some of their players and having a tour of their faciltiies.

Dustin Martin was filmed meeting with Great Western Sydney officials in 2013 and touring the club's training and administration facilities. He then signed a two year deal with Richmond on September 30, 2013. I believe he won some sort of medal last night playing for the same club.

Rockliff meeting with Blues today and doing a medical. Big offer from blues, I'd say he is gone this time. In fact I'm told he is as good as gone. Pick 2 or pick 18 compo, we'll make it work, the club is in a good place in the football department now. We have a respected coach who also respects his own environment (unlike Leppitsch the ungreatful ******) and Noble and recruiting department. Last year was a great draft haul, am excited what we might be able to draft this year. We are on the rise lions fans!

Feel Rocky stays in the end. Unless he gets a massive 4 year deal...then happy for him to move on :thumbsu:

Call me old fashioned, but not for a minute does it sit well with me that Rockliff is meeting with Carlton to the point that my attitude towards Rockliff is one of "don't let the door hit you on the way out".

I hope he goes now; completely uninterested in his low tactics, which I acknowledge that Rockliff isn't alone in.
Its not old fashioned it's just ignorant to claim it's disrespect. You don't thing this has been happening for decades. Would you change employers without meeting them first. We have done the same with all of our recruits over the last few years.

You're having a tantrum because a grown man is exploring his options, you can be sure the club and his teammates would have absolutely no problem with what he's doing.

It is post season here. And he is effectively out of contract. If he was meeting with other clubs during the season, then thats a different story. I am fine with it, and to be honest I am fine with him moving on too. I think we are in a bettet position now then we were 12 months ago.

In fairness we shopped Rockliff around last year desperately hoping someone we'd give us a Top 30 pick for him and no-one was biting. He's literally out of contract in a few weeks and I feel we're comfortable where things are at. Happy to let Rockliff go and get us a decent draft pick in the process, also happy if he re-signs.

He would be silly not to. Noble has a history of not over paying players as well. If we think something like 650k is what he is worth, he wont go higher. You will always get a better offer from another club because they have to offer you more to get you out.

Point out where in my post "I threw a tantrum"?

Um except he was shopping himself around, not us.

Going to be very hard to sell losing one of our best players to another rebuilding club for pick 18.

Best of luck to our lovely media team. Enjoy the break while you have it.

If that pick can be flipped for Charlie Cameron it's not so bad is it? Or Matthew Kennedy.

Rockliff is a better player than both but they are young and have potential...plus rockliff is a rfa and if he requests a trade, one of those 2 players is decent compensation.

I thought this was the whole idea of free agency. Whether the season has officially ended or not is a mere technicality. In fact, the sooner it is resolved the better for all concerned. My only worry is having to stomach him in a Blues jumper.

Any idea what Carlton's offer is Vs Brisbane's?

My guess is Carlton offering something like $700k over 4 years, Brisbane offering around $550k over 3.

Carlton's position might also be dependant on what happens with Gibbs. If he goes that will free up some space you'd reckon.

If that's the offer I wish him all the best. There has to be doubts over his body - last year was back, this year shoulder. Rocky doesn't play bruise free footy and this bangs him up a fair bit.

For sure...maybe Carlton already know what Gibbs is doing so can plan ahead.

Wouldn't surprise me though if it has no baring on what we offer rockliff...word is we are spending minimum cap last few years so can offer rockliff a decent contract even if Gibbs stays.

I reckon it would take something like that to get him out of Brisbane...that would be a significant difference, around $450k extra over 3 years plus the guaranteed 4th year money.

Obviously we will see after the medical.

Could be a win/win though...we need a player like him and get him for free. Have the money willing to take the risk.

Brisbane get pick 18 to trade for Charlie Cameron and add him to your impressive group of youngsters. Sort of a symbol of a new era without rockliff around who was a former captain. Maybe get someone like miles for cheap to help with the inside role.

We may get pick 2 but agreed. Just as bad as Hawthorn losing the best forward in the game for 19

On the subject of managers and the story about Pike - any players these days who manage themselves?

Didn't Rocky just have a shoulder reco? How is he going to take a medical?

I'd say a medical would consist of him taking scans pre and post surgery down for them to look and and possibly a doctors report or the like. Medicals rarely involve any physical activity.
