Bit wary about these midfielders were are supposedly going to trade in to help cover our gaps, Cameron aside, I hope they are not more de listings and cast-offs. Unfortunately Mitch Robbo's don't come along too often. More like Jarred Jansens.

Brett Burton on SEN yesterday said Cameron going was only speculation.......they have heard nothing from Cameron. Also heard Betts saying Cameron is his best mate n he's going nowhere. I am hoping Cameron is just waiting til after the b n f on thursday night to drop the bomb.

On AFL trade talk we r getting PA Lobbe. Not sure I am happy with this unless Martin is off. We don't need 4 ruckmen on our list especially if they are seen as a dying breed in our increasingly hectic game style. How long will Arch hang around in the NEAFL before he is off to another team for opportunities or back to basketball?

There is something very unlikeable about Lever. I also feel for clubs such as the Crows that have a player like Lever acting like a free agent and simply nominating one club. If you ask me, the AFL needs to stamp out such behaviour and attitudes of guys that aren’t free agents. At a minimum, two clubs must be nominated for a player that wants to move clubs and particularly states.

I think until you're a free agent the club should have the power to get the best deal. If they are sympathetic to the players situation whether it be family or otherwise then the club can accommodate the players wishes. It's a farce at the moment how much power the players have.

Listening to Fages this morning sounds like we are hitting the draft big time again this year with all those expected top 20 picks.

Not sure what to make of this when Rocky is out the door as well. Could the list get younger again? Is that possible?

Can't wait for the time we go into a year where we aren't relying on kids to carry our team, if ever.

He could but we all know that won't happen. Not under contract.

Apparently Tex has told Lever to xxxx xxxx xxx. Hypothetical......what if Adelaide are tired of losing their best players and make a stand by refusing to deal.......Lever has to go into psd coz he has damaged relations with the playing list and is greedy for the $$$$$$$$$ he has placed on himself. Same goes for Cameron unless he has a sad family story and he is under contract. Would we grab Lever?

Clubs make a stand for the fans and eventually do what they were always going to do and trade the player to the club of their choice. Lever is a valuable commodity and will bring them at least 1 first round pick. The fans wan't the club to make a stand but at the same time they want their club to be as strong as they can, and they will be much stronger losing Lever and bringing in some quality kids with the picks from Lever in the draft. They don't want to lose him for nothing.

No chance we pick up Lever, another Vic club might be no chance we would.

Where did you hear from Fagan this morning?

While Fages is no doubt a thoroughly honest man, most of what clubs say at this time of year can be taken with a grain of salt. I'll only believe anything when the deed is done.

Dodongo looks at the team and sees theres a lot of missing talent. Dodongo looks at what is available this year and sees mostly spuds like Miles and others people have talked about that will only be fill-gaps for a year or two. Dodongo realises the only way to get talent is through the draft. The club is still a few years from contending. Dodongo looks at next year and sees a lot of talent on the free agency list which the club doesnt need to draft for. Dodongo sees more talent coming in next year which will give the list a good mix ready to contend. Dodongo thinks loading up on top 20 picks this year and bringing in a few mature players next year is the n
best strategy going forward. Dodongo wont be hurt if the club finishes down the bottom again. A top 5 pick next year is worth still developing a young side.

Really hope we are at lesst enquiring about Trengrove. He's slow but would definitely add some leadership and professionalism to the list.
Always thought he was unlucky and would be worth the gamble in my opinion

Love to see a surprise trade in where everyone is amazed we can get such a great quality player . Or someone with a magic wand or talent stick gives Tom Bell, Roman Bewick and other list cloggers a good whack with it and boom they are all Australians.

I don't know about AA, but someone used a similar wand on Lester, Bastinac and Walker this year to some degree.

Do we play 3 talls down back? With Hodge and Trengove being added who do we drop from the backline? Witherden? Rich?

From day one (this time last year) when Noble and Fagan first walked through the door, they have repeatedly talked about hitting successive drafts with as many top 25 picks as possible, to acquire as much young talent and to then build around that talent through trades. This talk is nothing new from Fagan and Noble.

One of the potential positives from bringing Hodge and family up to Brisbane. If he stays and becomes a long term assistant coach, we get his kids in to our academy, and then the kid has a decision at 18 about which club to nominate for Hawthorn as a FS prospect, or the Lions as an academy nominee.

"If" we did also add Trengrove, it's not like Hodge and Trengrove would be playing every game. I am sure in a previous interview Fagan mentioned that he sees Hodge playing something like 15 games.

In the 15 games both Trengove and Hodge play what does our backline look like?

Crusha says he agrees.

No idea. 22 games in a season, they don't have to play all 15 games together. Trengrove could be signed as depth cover for a year, and to help the development of players during training and in the NEAFL. Other players will likely be rested at various times. The idea of playing solely the best 22 every week really is a myth in todays footy. It really is a squad game.

Lots of variables hypothetically in play.

Fagan has been pretty consistent with his talk about our list since he first got here. Draft being our main focus with our rebuild. We aren't looking for a flag in 3 years, we are trying to build something that will last long term, and that will take some time. Outside of that, we will look at FA and trades, but **** has been consistent in saying players from other clubs need to basically be best 22 players. They need to improve the team and the list, not just be filler. Because we are looking long term at rebuilding the list via the draft, we will develop our own depth.

So we lose our Rocky compensation for another Frost?
