It gets a bit tiring having so many shit sandwiches as a Lions fan. Every once in a while wins on and off the field help. Just feel like the Schache outcome was a bit self inflicted.

Anyway, spilt milk etc etc.

If Witherden leaves in the short term... just ahhh... why bother:(

At least it can't get any worse!

Rather than looking at it that way, why cant you see it like:
We have:
Andrews
Hipwood
Beams
Taylor
Cameron
Hodge
Martin
Berry
Zorko
Gardner
Rich
McStay
Matheson
Etc
THEY ALL WANT TO PLAY FOOTY FOR US. Here's cheers to that. Why is the glass always half empty? If its a shit sandwich to you, maybe change the place you buy that sandwich from, or maybe, change your order from shit to something you might like better.

Noble has stated we will potentially look at adding a DFA this off season. The below article lists some options, none of which seem all that appealing-

Miles and Hartung are potentially options. I really don't rate/want Hartung and could take or leave Miles. Wellingham was delisted by the Eagles today but is age 30 and probably not someone we need.

Would probably be keener on Hartung than Miles personally. Has produced less so far, but feel like he has a bigger upside if all went well than Miles does.

I just view him as a poor mans Lewy Taylor personally and I think you start to throw the balance of your side out if you have more than one Lewy Taylor type. Also with Bundy returning next year we'll have Zorko, Bundy and Taylor in the side all under 180cm. Adding a 4th in Hartung would put us too close to the smaller side imo.

If you play as outside as Hartung does, every other part of your game would want to be spot on. Gaff is a good example of someone who doesn’t really win his own footy but does absolutely everything else right. Hartung’s kicking and overall decision making is really quite ordinary. He’d need to do some major work on that before he becomes a viable long term prospect on a list.

The plus side is that we seem to be doing better at ironing out a player’s flaws and maybe there’s an argument that we’ve now got pretty good inside word from Fagan and Hodge on whether Hartung is worth having around.

His value dropped from pick 2 to pick 21 (equivalent - see below). I don't know how much further his stock could've fallen in another year.
Huh? If he had another year like this year, his value would have dropped again. If we then repeated the exercise for a 4th year, he'd have been near worthless. As it is, a club took a punt based on his junior footy and the glimpses he showed in year 1. With the passage of another 12 months, that form becomes less relevant and so his value drops.

Let's put it this way, if Shache was kept on the Lions list, he probably would have come back to Brisbane. He might have played a couple of games, but he most likely wouldn't have been here by the end of the season. If you read my post a week or so ago you would understand, it is the truth, and we did ok in the trade all things considered.

cant find your post, what was it?

We glaringly need a player that can do a run with role and is hard at it.... Hartung offers pace and was happy to take him if CC didn't get recruited.. Not sure he'd be able to bullock through... and that's what we need..Thought Bell would have been played in that role..Mitch & Christo have shown us glimpses. But we need a ready made grunter/ bull in our midfield, not sure about Wellingham but will say Heath Hocking has that grunt.. and is that mongrel hard at it and in the contest .. Would work well in tandem with Hodge teaching our youngsters what is needed as has spent this season working with Essendons VFL side..

What's the deal with Mullett?

I liked his debut season. Haven't paid attention to North since. What happened?

Injury plagued shoulders...got that bad... he was given the cold shoulder at the selection table.

25 year old, 80 odd games with a very good left foot.
Also played 17 games this year.
Very odd delisting

He might be one we may take a look at as his strengths are generally his kicking and his run and carry - something that may interest Fagan

Should probably add Claye Beams and Matthew Hammellman to the list of delisted free agents. We could always redraft Claye with pick 52.

If we're seriously going to look at a delisted free agent, are there any who could perform a similar role to Hodge. Some one to help drive standards during training and provide on field coaching, even if it's just in the NEAFL. Or we're looking for another Mitch Robinson, some one hoping to resurrect their career on their last chance.

I would actually consider Howlett or Hocking for a one year contract for a big body and inside work.

Has this been confirmed anywhere, or just speculation based off their contract status?

I was a bit stunned with that delisting. Seems a bit fishy to me.

The only thing confirmed is Noble’s statement that we will redraft Hanley as a Cat B rookie, at the rookie draft. Also suggestion that we will give Eagles another year. Reading between the lines seems unlikely that we will be allowed 4 Cat B rookies again.

Speculating, I’d say Barrett, McInerney, Hanley and Eagles are certainties.

William, Hammelmann, Hinge, Claye Beams, Close competing for remaining 3 rookie spots and possibly one list spot.

IIRC Hammelmann is a promote or delist candidate due to his three years on the rookie list.

Technically we can redraft him as a rookie though right? So long as we take him as a live selection.
