Might be underestimating Carlton's young spine a bit Fivey.

Talent is there with Jaksch but my presumption is it's more of an attitude thing. Wouldn't be a best 22 obviously but key position depth could be required.

Better than drafting in a skinny kid that needs years of development surely

Whatever the reason, I'd be pretty cautious about picking him up when Carlton only gave him seven games in three seasons, then cut him despite having basically spent pick 7 on him.

why are you talking about Tom Lamb?

It's a gamble you've got to take for depth sometimes.

Look at Petrie, not many would have expected his output during 2017
Theyre delisted for a reason though. For every Petrie or Menegola theres another 10 Mortons or Lucas'. Would rather pick up someone who hasn't had a chance to prove themselves eg Ryan or Kelly.

Petrie had an outstanding career and was most professional - hardly a risk as a ruckie to fill a possible gap.

Petrie was at least a proven player. Not one single reject we've taken in the last few years has worked.
We've taken Dick, Tunbridge, Bennell, Lucas and I'll include Morton because we basically got him for free, they've all been crap. This rubbish of taking other teams cast-offs and hoping that our coaches (who have a shithouse record of developing young players btw) will work some magic and turn them into actual players has to stop.

Yeah but he would cost a 3rd rounder which i would rather use on a Liam ryan or Kell from South Freo

If you could get Alir Alir for a 3rd round pick you would do that trade in an instant.

Our tall backs would then be set for the next 8 years, look at trading Schofield for a third rounder.

We wont go best available with our first picks we will chase the best mids available. No point drafting a ruck with pick 13 or a tall defender. Bradshaw or Clark.

In the last 3 drafts we have grabbed maybe 2 mids and 3 flanke

In the last 3 years we've drafted maybe 2 full time mids and a lot of flanker/maybes. If available i would rather have a Naitanui, Cox or Glass over a Sheed or Sheppard.

Averaged similar output in the last 3 years. No doubt slowing down but North cut him cos of his age not his output

And still the midfield is struggling.

If the midfield isnt fixed we are going nowhere.

Make us the lions. Pay rockliff enough to give brisbane pick 2 under the proviso we can then trade our first this year, our pick 28 and masten for zorko + 18.

Zorko on the HFF and as a goal kicking midfield rotation and rockliff on the inside for 2-3 seasons. Add nicnat and slyce back into the team next year and go for glory.

Give me 1 premiership followed by 5 years of pain over multiple partial rebuilds and the next 10 years in no mans land as 'the good guys'.

Brisbane lose pick rockliff, zorko and 18.
Brisbane gain pick 2, pick 11, pick 28 and masten.

West coast lose Masten, pick 11, pick 28 and roughly 1.5mill in salary cap.
West coast gain rockliff, zorko, pick 18.

FB Sheppard Barrass Hurn
HB Duggan Mcgovern Yeo
C Jetta Rockliff Gaff
HF Zorko Darling Venables
FF Rioli Kennedy Cripps
R Nicnat Shuey Sheed
I Lycett Redden Cole Wellingham

Looking at that list Jetta on the HFF, venables on the bench and we're short a wingman. I wonder if pick 18 and some more salary cap could pry a tall wingman in acres back home!

Was he a reject or did he prove himself in the Wafl to get another shot? Fine with picking up Jaksch or an overage player if he goes somewhere next year and proves he can actually play decent senior football. Not fine with picking up someone who's shown nothing at all because they were a former high pick.

I think it's the high draft pick deception. You think we could do better, but they're just bad.

Petrie has been excellent this year, but he could easily have another 2016 or just get injured. I'd rather use his spot and turn through whatever talls we have on our list / whoever we pick up and see what we we've got.

We should only trade 2nd round picks.;) We do ok in the draft with our 1st but we have been pretty bloody useless with our 2nd and then ok with our 3rds.

We seem to run a root trading our 1st round picks.

Then we use our 2nd to get Yeo one year.

BINGO!!!!!!:D:D

Tunbridge apparently walked out on GWS because he was homesick iirc. Dick was very unlucky with injuries, could've been a decent player for us otherwise.
