Damien Barrett just said on footy classified that the team mates of gaff believe he could be on the way out to possibly hawthorn or saints....get it done with the saints eagles !!

I seriously hope it’s not hawthorn.... don’t know why we would want Stratton.... we don’t need defenders and he’s only got a couple years left and hartung is like a poor mans masten

I still think he would be handy in the forward line especially when Kennedy goes,he got the second most contested marks in the comp and is getting better in the ruck.Lobb was at all time value at the end of last year and has not lived up to that IMO. I'm glad we didn't go after him because he would have cost overs.
He was an absolute liability once the ball hit the ground against Richmond and we have too many of those types as it is. Just stood there spectating.
There's no way the Saints will trade both of their picks. I think it'll end up being a straight swap Gaff for pick 8, but I'd still really like Acres back in the deal somehow, particularly if he's thinking of coming home anyway.Gaff and 13 to StK 7 and 8 seems a good deal to me (if Gaff wants to leave why make him stay). Need to use those picks wisely though

Not that I particularly want him but most of our big moves seem to come out of nowhere because we manage to keep things quiet, every chance we have made enquiries. Why are there no rumours about you guys throwing your wallet at Rockliff and telling him to help himself? Perfect for WC I would have thought.
Gaff and 13 for 7 and 8 puts gaff at a value of between pick 4 and 5My only thoughts are that if gaff is indeed leaving it is because he has signalled his intentions a year early and is looking after west coast (getting us more than FA compo). If this is the case then I don't think we will have to worry about the hawks screwing us over. We should be dealing with the saints and hopefully getting a first rounder plus steak knives. I'd say pick 8 and a player as they don't have a second rounder. Perhaps gaff and 13 for 7 and 8?
Also my reading on the GC is that they will be losing some of their highest paid players (ones not willing to take pay cuts even though performance doesn't warrant high pay) and turning to the draft. In the short term they will be requiring solid loyal footballers to help improve their culture. I honestly believe some of our fringe players will be perfect fits for them. They will also have of pile of second rounders and so they might not value third rounders as highly as us. Currently they have 2,19,22,24,33,37 and with players leaving there is only so many picks they can/will want to use. I wouldn't be against trading on pick 13 for a number of second rounders
I'd rather keep 13,2 early picks is what we needIf gaff for #8 works out, I would definitely be looking at trading pick 13 to gcs for say pick 24+33
Is a straight swap gaff for saints #8 fair?
Thoughts guys ?
It is, so what we'll probably do is trade pick 13 for David Swallow or something, maybe chuck in Masten and get a late 2nd rounder back.I'd rather keep 13,2 early picks is what we need

West Coast seem relevant again in the trade period which is exciting. Summary from Footy Classified tonight:
1) Gaff possibly going home to Vic
2) Saints unlikely to keep both picks 7 & 8 and move one to secure a player such as Gaff
3) Jesse Hogan still considered getable by both WA clubs
I think it might have been his kicking. Can't say I have seen it this year.He has pace can get the ball and kicks goal everything that Masten doesn't do.Out of interest , why was Tim Kelly overlooked in previous years? Has he improved that much?
Swapping Tom Lamb would make me happy. If we get Fasolo for not much then fine. But otherwise he's NOT worth it when we just gave Lecras ANOTHER year and have Rioli and Venables to all play small fwd next year.
I'm not sure I understand why we can't use both picks? I'm guessing you're thinking we are in the window and need a top up of experience .if that is the case I dont mind swallow, haven't seen much of him since he's returned from.years of being injured but he may be OK.It is, so what we'll probably do is trade pick 13 for David Swallow or something, maybe chuck in Masten and get a late 2nd rounder back.
No I was agreeing with you, just can't see Vozzo and O'Brien doing the same and this seemed like a plausible trade they'd do considering our past midfield tradesI'm not sure I understand why we can't use both picks? I'd rather get 2 of the best mids available in the draft with the picks we have and bring in rockliff and Tim Kelly later in the draft, that way we've got some elite young talent,an experienced campaigner and kelky

Ye we would prob throw another 3rd rounder or something towards themGaff and 13 for 7 and 8 puts gaff at a value of between pick 4 and 5
Can’t see Sts parting with both those picksPerhaps gaff and 13 for 7 and 8?
Yeah fair enough, didn't look at his stats but just didn't seem that damaging whenever I saw GWS play this year.I still think he would be handy in the forward line especially when Kennedy goes,he got the second most contested marks in the comp and is getting better in the ruck.
Obviously he wouldn't be the priority over coniglio but still very handy

Not necessarily, Fyfe was taken with pick 20, Sloane with pick 44, Danger with pick 10, JPK with pick 40 and then traded for a bunch of late picks. For every top midfielder that was taken with pick 3 there's another one who was taken later in the draft.TBH I'd much rather keep Gaff and go to the draft! Take out Gaff and we literally have no effective and consistent wingmen left! We need an A grade Dustin Martin, Dangerfield/Petracca (potential) type to fix our midfield and unless trading out Gaff gives us a high chance of that he's much more valuable to us. Pick 8 is far more likely to net you a Sheppard, Rohan, Sheed, Millera type as opposed to a petracca, Fyfe or Bont so I'd rather stick with Gaff

Unfortunately for our club Simpson is looking after himself and his own interests not the clubs Fasolo interest clearly shows that as does Vozzos statement our 1st pick is on the table
