Ebert was our pick 13 . Had talent but didnt want to renew a contract. We asked for a 1 st round. Port offered a 2nd round and a 3rd they got by trading out a couple of old players.
Port want a 3rd for Ah Chee so we offer a 4 th. Fair deal if they take the 4th .
Just a couple of thoughts about Ebert
He was always going to go back to SA and Port. Kind of mad to draft him.
After playing the whole season in the 22, McGinnity of all people was picked ahead of him in the finals. That speaks for itself.
He was heavily criticised on this board when he was playing for WC. It was only when he left that posters seemed to think he was any good.

For experience perhaps. With Clurey, Marshall, Austin, Howard & Hombsch they've already got their pick of young key players to play defense. Howard/Marshall still up in the air by position, but the fact Trengove maybe seeking a look elsewhere says a bit.
Howard and Marshall are forwards and do not possess the swing capability.
Clurey and Hombsh are only 193cm and 194cm respectively while Austin is 196cm but only played 13 games. I would have thought someone like Schofield who can fit into the running Port defence as well as taking the tall forwards would be decent back up. Out of the players you listed, I doubt any of them gone past 100 games.

The more I think about it, the more I believe Schofield and our 5th for The Sneezer is about right.

Day 2 so heaps can still happen.

I was on the Motlop train but then i remembered Yeo, Gov and Gaff are all out of contract next year and the smart option would be to Sign those 3 up early and front load them if we can.

The talk of wanting to get earlier in the drafts means there is a player they are really looking to get.

I appreciate you may not see it as an eventuality, but Howard has played a lot of defense in the SANFL, and finished out the year there at AFL including a final. Definitely able to switch ends. Marshall I agree suited as a forward. I think the trade you've posed is fine, and a lot more realistic than people crowing for Geelong's third.

I would think Higgins and Brayshaw are 2 names that will be off the table at when we have our turn at pick 13.

Is there something to be done with St Kilda with say pick 8? The points system values the difference with pick 8 and pick 13 at around pick 46.

We hold pick 46 but I do not expect that to get the business done. What about Schofield or Lamb? Would St Kilda go for a pick 8 to pick 13 and pick 46 plus Schofield! Not bad cover given Goddard is slower recovering than desired with his achilles problem.

Given the inside grunt of St Kilda, they may be preapred to do the deal with Masten making up the balance. I doubt it but I can dream on.

Schofield probably has more currency than Ah Chee IMO. I reckon Schofield for Ah Chee in a straight swap would be reasonable.

haha shit post, majority of that 10 years he has played AFL. so is he an above average AFL toilet?

Delivered about 20 serviceable AFL quality games in all that time. Now at 28 a so-called seasoned AFL player and supposedly in his prime he barely impacts at WAFL level and no other club is interested. Not his fault though. At pick 3 the club must have felt obligated to sink game after game into him, games I'm sure would have been better invested in others.

His disposal was atrocious and cost us numerous times in games. Could win the ball and take a great mark ( used to groan when he took a mark close to goal ) He ended up spitting the dummy because he was dropped for the finals, but seriously his disposal was so bad and to all the posters who say that can be fixed, he can be improved but never truly fixed .

I would think that we would be wanting as many draft picks as possible, so trying to move into the Top 10 whilst trading no-one out seems like a compromise of that strategy. Not trading Gaff makes it borderline unachievable.

That's a good trade for both clubs, If we think Schofield is surplus to our needs, but I have always wanted to see him play up on the wing, probably passed the chance now.

The trouble with throwing up names like Schofield, Masten and McKenzie is that none of them want to leave Perth as their lives are firmly planted in the West and if it means playing WAFL at East Perth and staying on our list then they seem content to do so.

Not ideal list management but thats a whole other issue.

Could trade Schofield and pick 30 - to Geelong for pick 20.

Trade pick 13 & next year 3rd rounder to St Kilda for pick 8.

Hitting the draft with pick 8 & 20 - would be a good result

I don't think those deals are attractive to the cats or saints.

This is probably one of the issues with there only being 2 clubs in Perth. You can't move players on very easily because once they pass 25 theyre firmly entrenched, whereas in Melbourne they can move clubs and it not so disruptive for their home lives.
