Taken from AFL website, confirms what may of us already thought.

Port may regret losing Ah Chee
Former Port Adelaide utility Paul Stewart has told the Adelaide Advertiser his old club risks relinquishing a future AFL star if, as expected, Brendon Ah Chee joins West Coast.

Ah Chee has struggled for senior opportunities at Alberton Oval, but won Port Adelaide Magpies' SANFL best and fairest and was runner-up in the Magarey Medal.

The 23-year-old West Australian has requested a trade to the Eagles, who view him as a replacement for retired inside midfielders Matt Priddis and Sam Mitchell.

"I love Arch as a player and a person. He's a good kid, a professional, he's improved his engine every year and he's got that X-factor about him when he goes forward," Stewart said.

"Him and Robbie Gray had the best set of hands at the club in my time there and if you are a good clearance player who can go forward and kick goals, like Arch can, you have a lot going for you.

"He'd be a great pick-up by West Coast."

Bluey mckenna
In fact i was reminded about how good bluey was 2 days ago 7 mate had a replay of the 92 Grand final
The difference in the consistent desperation and intensity of the eagles at the ball
Compared to 2015 were worlds apart
Something we need to generate in
2018

Sheppard is the best half back we have ever had
mckenna-17-hero.jpg

I think not good sir!
Pretty sure Eaglespur was joking ? I have at least 6 in front of him. McKenna, Worsfold, Waterman, Waters, Hurn, Butler (yes) And you can also throw in Laidley and Hart. All far better players than shep.

Due to our current list situation I've determined that Brady's strategy is as follows*..

We have limited years to get a premiership while our A graders are still around. We could trade them out and go the full rebuild but that could ruin the club.

We also struggle to attract A grade free agents etc due to our location. So we basically can trade in a player or two where possible and then hit the draft. how do we improve our draft position? We can't get rid of our C graders for even 4th rounders as it would seem that no other clubs really want them

Also another issue I can foresee with drafting players is that it takes a number of years to develop them, making our premiership window even smaller.

Solution?

I believe the club may trade away some 2018 draft picks for 2017 picks. For example we might give away our first and second rounders next year for a number of gold coasts 2017 picks.

Why should we do that?

The 2018 draft might be rated as stronger but if we can identify players and nail this draft we will get an extra year of development into a number of players potentially widening our premiership window. It's a risk but we have to try something imo

Why would an opposition club do it?

2018 is predicted to be a stronger draft and it appears as though clubs could possibly pay overs for these picks. Another factor is that many seem to think we will slide next year so it would appear that clubs might be prepared to bet against us. Furthermore a club like Gold Coast might have more picks this year than they actually want to use (multiple second and third rounders) and so might only value first and early second rounders highly.

I therefore predict that on the last day of the trade period we will trade out our future first and second for A number of picks in this years draft. It's pretty much the only way I see Brady improving our draft position

*actually a complete guess but who knows..

Group think seems to be:

We shouldn't trade out 2018 picks as its a better draft than 2017.

But logical logic says:

Everyone knows that the 2018 draft is better, therefore it's priced in. This means we would be able to trade 2018 pick 30 for 2017 pick 20 (or similar, for example). And given that Gold Coast and GWS love future picks, it may be a deal worth doing.

What do you think we've got to use to upgrade picks though? I don't see a lot, no one seems interested in the players we want to get rid of. Is Lycett expendable? Would we consider using someone like Partington? There's just not much on our list that we can even use to upgrade our picks imo.

Our 2018 second round pick is realistically the only real currency we have to land extra picks or upgrades this year.

Butler was up against a midfield of Judd, Cousins, Kerr, Fletcher, Brawn and Embely and still got 24 touches the 06 grannie what ****in more do you want.

Settle down bro.

Butler started as a mid but due to soft tissue injuries he simply couldnt train hard or long enough to build a midfielders fitness base and he kept breakibg down. Not a criticism just factual.

The reason Hurn has never been moved into the midfield is the same. Hamstring issues stopped him getting fir enough early in hus career.

Sheppard doesnt have that excuse, he just wasnt a mid but we had high hopes.

Same with Wellingham but his issue was mental and lack of work rate. Those ankle injuries he copped straight after arriving likely contributed to his reassignment to the backline.

This is often the way small defenders evolve. They start as mids but injury means they limited to playing defence.

And there's the issue. Nelson appears to be semi-talented, as do many of our young reserves. I'm not sure that they have it in them to get where we want them to. In Nelson's case, I don't think he's in our best back 7. As for the midfield, I still wouldn't have him ahead of Hutchings.

No doubt the club will give him more opportunities, but that would be more out of promise than performance. I would not consider him untouchable in the quest to regenerate our midfield and forward line through trade or draft.

So really it comes down to our ability to properly identify and develop talent. Throwing a Nelson or Cole type in as steak knives would do more damage to redeveloping the squad than the benefit of getting in a player who isn't an A grader anyway IMO. If the kid expresses a desire to leave then sure but you don't push them to get back a stop gap type player.

2018 will be pretty revealing on the mindset of the coaching group. Priddis, Petrie and Mitchell retired. Wellingham, Masten and Hill on the outer or delisted. There's 25%+ of the B22 from the past 2 season available to the kids who want it badly enough.

Hopefully we play the kids in their proper positions, get a true reading on their ability at the level and with the return of Naitanui can pinch as as many games as we lose from playing a younger side.

Nelson, Cole, Karpany, Mutimer, Venables, Rioli + whatever we acquire during the off season. It could be an exciting season. A big youth injection could be just the thing to revitalise the older players.

This is all something we should have thought of this season.

The monkeys running this club are so fn conservative.

Geelong, hawks and sydney are the blueprint

.How do you know we havent thought of this?

Rawlings basically said that our future picks may be used and if they arent used on players then the only other option is pick upgrades.

Hi West Coast fans... Since Adelaide is going to have a plethora of 1st round pick due to existing in an undesirable city.. What would it cost to pry gov senior our of your cold dead hands?

Straight swap for Sloan

How about 2 firsts and Second?
It's not a bad offer, but there is literally no chance we'd entertain an offer for him. Same thing happened with gaff, we're fairly conservative and don't look to move on our best players. I'd be gutted if he left, but I'm confident he'll stay.

How about 2 firsts and Second?
Two things.

1. McGovern would need to ask to move

2. How early would the 2 first rounders be as I would want one at least in the top 10. No point in offering up 17 and 18 as the 2 first rounders as this year's draft is pretty even from 15 to mid to late 20's.

How about 2 firsts and Second?

How about why would we ever trade McGovern and why would he want to move?
Mitch didn't want to move to play with his brother so why would Jeremy?

Sorry hippy I just don't see it happening. The govs are not that close - quite happy to play st different clubs

Pick 10 and maybe 16

Plus Turbo seems to love any and all opportunities to smash little Gov into the dirt. Can't do that playing on the same side.
