Anyone aware of how long we have Gorter on the list? I would be happy to de-list him and to then demote Lamb to the rookie list. There is a risk that Collingwood pick him up as a rookie but so be it. I am also ok on de-listing Hill.

That would enable us to go into the draft with 6 live picks.

There will be value in a 69 being our 6th pick.

Just woken up to the final day of trades....

We need to talk more with Gold Coast at the end of every year. They've got plenty of WA beauties they'll offload for a second rounder I'm sure.

Why would an 18 year old who has never played against a man have more upside? The amount of faith AFL clubs and their supporters put into 18 year old kids is unbelievable. The AFL is supposed to be a Best of the best competition, not a kindergarton for player development. For most AFL clubs the 5 year plan starts every year.
My concern is that if he's 23 and isn't going to be guaranteed best 22, then why take him with an earlish pick? If he can come in an play right away, then sure. Use an early pick on him.

They may get rid of Wellingham instead of Lamb. Wellers is a bit redundant now with the amount of HBFs we have

I think there will be another announcement soon about Hill, Wellingham and Gorter. I hope Snadden stays, but they may move him on too.

I'm happy with the trade period. I saw some strategy and willingness to accept risk. I would have liked to have seen Schofield and Masten traded, maybe that wouldve moved Lamb to the wing and then we couldve seen him more.

So basically we're hoping GC finish bottom 4 again and we finish top 8 in 2018.

Basically if things occur again we're down grading our first pick in 2018 - say Pick 11-13 to GC's Pick 20-22 for 3 second rounders in 2017.

Pretty smart move. At worst its a 10-12 pick downgrade of our 2018 first pick for 3x second rounders.

Obviously we are targeting some players.
Guarantees Tim Kelly.

Excited to add Naitanui, Ah Chee, Rioli, Venables, Kelly to our Best 22. Speed skill class agility.

Big change in a shot amount of time.

Of course he can come in and play right away, but when you're talking guaranteed best 22, that's a different argument. I don't believe you can make that guarantee with any player that is new to a club and it depends on how the coaches view him, what he does at training etc etc.
If you want an aribitrary figure, I would put him in the 15-22 category, however, it also depends on the development of the likes of Venables, Cole et al.
I don't see him as the bloke who will lead the way, he has inside outside capabilities, but as Crowley showed for a couple of quarters in the WAFL, you can get on top of him and it was up to other blokes to get him out of the hole, so to speak. Hopefully I am making some sense with what I am saying.

I like your thinking - would suit us, Richmond and Geelong who all have multiple picks around that mark.
Something like this would be a great result
13 - Clark/Constable
21 - Bonar
26 - Allen
32 - Kelly
37 - Spargo ?

Surely we are not considering using all 4 of the draft picks on mid?

That would mean we would have

Mid rotation:

REDDEN (MID)
SHEED (MID)
Duggan (HBF/MID)
YEO (MID)
VENABLES (MID)
SHUEY (MID)
Rookie (1)
Rookie (2)
Rookie (3)

+ 4 x MID/ 3x Mid + 1 fwd

Parto (mid)?????? Might be gone. Might be overtaken.

Midfield rotations are a must in today’s game, the more quality mids we can get the better.
Our forward line and back line are fine.

13 - Clark an astute pick ;)/Constable
21 - Bonar
26 - Allen
32 - Kelly
37 - Spargo ?

I would be happy with that mix of draftee's.
Spargo at 37 would be excellent value, harder that a cats head.

He wont be an A grader but can be a decent mid/HF rotation in place of someone like Hutchings

When he replaces Hutchings that will be a win for our list improvement.

It will be interesting, I wonder if there is any chance Patrick Naish gets an early bid (pre 17) that forces Richmond's second pick below 20? That would be $$

I'm telling you lot there is alot of patrick cripps in brandon starcevich we better pick him. 2nd round steal
