I have been wondering about Fyfe for a while. Been ok this season but not great. The injuries seem to have taken an edge off him. I have him in both my SC and AF teams so watch fairly closely. Hope we don't go overboard thinking he is the player of two years ago.

He may get better as the season goes on, but he might not.....

On form this year he's not a 1.5 mill signing

Is this legit ?
If I was Kelly. I would take it.

End of the contract, he be 26 or 27. He be in a fyfe/martin situation.

Hometown connection.
Best mate plays there as well.
Similar age group team.
Bright future.

There's more upside to this than downside.

I wonder what kind of contract Billings is looking at if he continues on this trajectory all year? What do you guys think he'll be offered?
Or does anyone know if weve put a big contract in front of him yet?
I would say 500 to 600k a year

Agree. I doubt any other clubs would offer anymore than that either. We shouldn't have too much trouble re-signing him for about 500 odd per year.
Will be more if he keeps kicking 5 and knocking up 30 touches each week. Double edged sword

Got to remember that we've already been paying him heaps more than his worth for last year & this year just to meet the 95% cap & 100% cap of last year & this current year. No doubt 3x $500k gets it done

Kelly looks like he would best 'fit' our club & our needs than Fyfe or Dusty IMO

Younger, outside class, run all day, left footer, & seems like a level headed kid - get it done Hughesy.

If Kelly was to go to North then he would be far and away their best midfielder. The only others they have are the perennially injured Higgins and the perennially inconsistent Cunnington, but neither come close to the class of Kelly. Therefore week in week out Kelly would cop a tag, and his numbers would reflect it. At the Saints though, Steven always gets the tag because of his line-breaking. Add that to the fact that Steele and Stevens would bury and campaigner who tries to rough up Kelly, I think it would be a perfect fit.

Like I say, still think Norf are in the box seat to pick him up due to sentimental value and the length of the contract, but I reckon we should be in with a strong chance.

Probably
But still could use an inside beast who consistently wins 15 CP a game like Fyfe and Martin

Yes we've got one there. Still building to so should be pretty huge in that area in the future.

Even though I thought Cripps had the better of him when they went together yesterday.

Fyfe averages 15, dusty 14.

I dont get how a club pays a player more than whats in his contract. Are you saying they pay on top of the contract their on to pay less after. Like in marketing value or something.
The club can pay more in one year and less in the next within a contract but cant see how that effects the next contract.

Steele went toe to toe with Cripps yesterday. He had 29 disposals, 17 contested & 7 tackles along with a goal. Cripps had 30, 20 & 5. Cripps has had an extra year in the system. Steele will be that contested beast.

Pretty sure a few contracts were front loaded to help us pay the salary cap minimum, and create space for a big fish.
