2017 trade hypothetical thread

Adelaide trade McGovern + 2nd round pick to Freo for pick 5.
Adelaide trade Charlie Cameron to Brisbane for pick 19.
Adelaide trade Jake Lever to Melbourne for pick 12 + change..

On current ladder position Adelaide end up with picks 5, 12, 18, 19 & 20

If you are the Crows and in a window, what would you do with these picks??

12 & 18 should get you Bryce Gibbs.
Steven Motlop feels like he would be a good fit at the Crows, pick 19 probably gets it done.

Crows will need to replace Lever, perhaps Shoemakers as an unresttricted free agent could plug the hole could also swing forward to play the 3rd tall to replace McGovern.

Crows get Bryce Gibbs, Steven Motlop, Ryan Shoemakers + pick 5. IMO leaves Crows in a better position, only issue might be cap space and I am not sure how the crows are positioned.
 
If Brisbane hand over pick 19 for Charlie Cameron they are beyond silly.

if that's the asking price Brisbane should walk away. As good as Gibbs is, Adelaide have no need to pay through the roof for him, he isn't worth that much this year. Last year maybe. The horse has bolted with that trade I would have thought, not sure Adelaide will bother about trying to get Gibbs.

Why don't you just trade your two firsts for Kelly and keep Francis who will be great (just needs a good pre season rather than coming back half fit after injuries. Crows would probably rather keep their first as well.

Will two firsts be enough didn't think it would be, does leave us with an extra 2nd in 2017 and our 2018 first

Two firsts wouldn't be far off the mark...however GWS would be reluctant to have Kelly nominate Essendon, the deal would take 2 weeks..and they still have Hopper at least to trade/etc.

I still think Kelly will stay at GWS signing a 2 year deal though. Ride the success at GWS then move to wherever he wishes.

So we get Lever for pick 12 + change but Adelaide will have to give up 12 + 18 for Gibbs? Yeah that doesn't add up.

Gibbs will play out his contract at Carlton because he isn't worth what Carlton want.

This. Adelaide may have done it last year but I fail to see the point when they are top of the ladder why they really need Gibbs. Not worth two firsts anyway. A first and a swap of 2nds sure. Think what Tom Mitchell cost us.

-Lever is worth is worth more like Pick12 + Pick 12-18, or a top-10 Pick + 2nd rounder.

-Pick 18 + change is about right for Gibbs. We didn't trade 2-firsts last year, we won't again this year.

-Motlop is a Restricted Free Agent and would likely go as a RFA, no one would trade a top-20 pick for him. I would suspect Geelong may get a 2nd round compensation pick for him so they would probably take that and run if he doesnt resign.

-We showed interest in Shoemakers a few years back but he didn't want to return to Adelaide. He would be a downgrade on Otten at this stage, by a mile. Doubt we are interested in fringe players at this stage.
