Congratulations my buddy Ed Langdon, and ruck beast Sean Darcy on making the 22 under 22 for 2018.

Langdon only made it to the bench, but considering he's not a backman, he would've looked out of place on the field. He had an absolute ripper of a year and it's great to see it recognised outside of Freo.

Darcy deserved it a bit more last year, but he's looking the goods for a solid long term ruck, and luckily is the only decent young ruck in the league.

Great way to end the year for both and well deserved.

Congrats to the boys. Langdon had a breakout year IMO and it is well deserved..

I was a little puzzelled about Darcy since he was injured for the most part and only played 7 games. So I had a little look and the only other ruckman nominated was Tim English who played 7 also. Probably says more about the time it takes for rucks to develop and teams becoming less reliant on playing 2 rucks.

Although English has the better disposal count he barely gets any hitouts compared to Darcy so its good to see a ruckman getting the nod instead of a part timer like P Wright (FWD) did last year. I think it might be a bit of a square up after last years decision but either way it was only a 2 horse race.

So i guess what Im saying is congrats big fella you deserved it even with the limited game time and I guess it shows how lucky we are to have a youngster in the ruck who can mix it up with the big boys. Hopefully he has an injury free year next year and make some progress towards being in the senior all-australian squad in the future!

It's a fan voted best 22, which would be why Darcy made it, think he deserved it over English anyway
