if you go through next years draw they have a genuine shot of winning upwards of 9 games because of the teams they play twice. if they win most of those they they will finish with a pick 5 or 6. see what happens I guess. I will chill out but this wont sit comfy for awhile

Who are they going to beat ?? Freo will improve as will Brisbane. Can see the Saints sliding but that's about it.

Carlton's 1st means we get Luko or Rankine next year. Its a no brainer.

I really really hope you are right. In fact before Luko or Rankine gets on the plane we should already be forming a strategy with them on how they will call for a trade back to the crows

Rankine might choose to be traded so we needed a pick before Port Power, who will likely finish 16-14.

If he requests a trade to us, it doesn't matter what picks Port has.

Because we couldn't and the clubs that held the top 5 picks were asking for too much. No club with a top 5 pick this year was looking at Crows pick 16 and 8 and thinking that's a good deal.

We needed to trade out a player. You don't get what you want without giving up something. Not going into who I would have traded but if you want rankine anyone over 25 I would have looked at trading out.

Trading into the top 3 was too much to pay obviously. Disappointing to say i was wrong about Izak.
The trade to Carlton was massive though.
We have traded pick 19 and 12 - 19 next year for a top 5 pick next year.
You do that everyday of the week.
I can see carlton only finishing above st kilda and gold coast so thats pick 3 for 19 and 2019 pick 19

Not if they trade their tp 5 pick for a later first round pick before hand... Could end up a shit deal. As we saw with Sydneys dodgy pick swaps, this is a risky move on our behalf.

The pick we swapped is based on the finishing position. They can't trade that pick because it is ours. So they can't finish 17th, have pick 2, trade 2 for say 10 and 12, then give us 10.

Next years draft isnt anywhere near this. SA squad nowhere near as good, Vic Metro not that good either.
Best SA talent is Taheny and Gould. We have McEntee but he is small, Pickett I love but he is maybe late first or early second.

Taheny is the one I want at this stage. Long way to go of course.

A little bit underwhelmed. Jones should be a good pick. McHenry puzzles me. Is he a replacement for betts? Would have gone RCD at 13. Pick swap with carlton? Who knows how this works out. If carlton finish 12th we just got ******. If they finish 16th and we finish 8th, we gave up 10 and 16 for 3. This is a gamble.

FFS go look at Ned's Draft Machine footage, the kid's an absolute high pressure aggressive mid/forward that will run his arse off all day. He's the energiser bunny on steroids.

Just think what the clubs with top 4 picks were asking this year for any potential trade... a shit load more than what we just gave up!

I have to disagree with you there. Next years draft pool is quality and surely you can appreciate that any pick within the top 5 will be a cracker.
