Agree , consider GC only swap future third Rd for Corey Ellis and Miles , I hope Cameron don't take his foot down, especially dealing with Geelong .
Cameron's strong suit is trading in my opinion did well handling the exits at GWS so hopefully no silly trades like clayton did.
His drafting cant be any worse then claytons.

I think Dew involvment in drafting indicated that he want players that fit into his game plan .

How much different is his attitude compared to a standard draftee. I think Dew mentioned a few times that one of the reasons he loves Holman is because he is just desperate and so thankful to be on an AFL list. These guys who have been delisted or overlooked appreciate it so much more and will go anywhere to do it without problems. Such a drastic difference compared to most guys that are lined up to go in the first couple rounds of the draft.

Not super relevant but found this funny.

In the 8 years since the Suns started we've traded 10 players (not including this trade period because we don't know whats going to happen):
Caddy, Hickey, Smith, Bennell, Dixon, Saad, Ablett, Prestia, Matera and O'Meara

of those players, we pushed Bennell, Dixon, Matera and Smith out the door.
So all in all, 6 players have requested a trade from the Suns without us either choosing to trade them or not offering them a contract.

Comparatively, in 7 years since GWS started, they've had 7 players request a trade to Carlton
Pickett, Marchbank, Lamb, Phillips, Plowman, Sumner, and Kennedy.

Since the two clubs started, more players have been traded from GWS to Carlton than players have actually requested a trade at all from the Gold Coast Suns.

Stewie Dew is a fan of his ability to put defensive pressure on and rates him as a goal sneak.

Is contracted, but Cats will let him go if GC are prepared to offer a second round pick like they've intimated.

Watch this space.
Some kind of Goal Sneak at 1.90 m .
I called it now it won't be second Rd pick , watch this space .

He averages less than a goal and 2 tackles a game.
2nd round for both is overs, but I suppose it's an improvement on handing 3 2nd rounders to WCE for no return at all like last year.

1.90 m goal sneak and ability to put pressure sound pretty ........jimbean88

Attacking midfielder who spent 2016 in the VFL after arriving as a rookie. A broken foot sustained in January while on a short break in Yarrawonga set him back in 2017, but the high half-forward recovered to earn promotion and his AFL debut in round three. Played 18 games, but struggled with form and leg injuries towards the finals. Signed a three-year deal that locks him in until 2020.

Draft history: 2016 Rookie Draft selection (Geelong) No. 27; 2017 NAB AFL Draft rookie elevation (Geelong).

I have nothing erudite to post in these threads
I can't add up points to work out bargains and selection worth, nor do I know enough about opposition players to adjust those trades
I just ask questions of those with the knowledge!
So
How long does this trade period go for and is it the only window that a contracted player like Scrimshaw or Martin can move in?

This is the only window they can move on. The trade period finishes on Wednesday next week at 8:30pm

Unrelated but I don't understand why the AFL cap the trade period at 10 days? Why do they not for example open it at the same time but have it run through to the draft? That would give clubs time to negotiate deals and better analyse their lists over a period and prepare better for next season.

Obviously when I say I don't understand I mean I do understand the commercial interest that comes with it that the AFL prioritizes over everything by making it short and exciting like reality TV, and making sure they are heavily in the papers over these 10 days rather than spreading it out over a month and a half before turning into draft news. But surely they would get more players popping up requesting a trade or being persuaded by another offer if the process was drawn out and therefore more spotlight for the AFL?

If Geelong get a 2nd rnd pick for Parsons we will drive him to the airport ourselves noone offers that high a pick for him. We would be lucky to get 43 from GC for Parsons and GHS combined let alone a R2 for Parsons. Btw Josh Corbett is a good player.

I, for one, wouldn't get any bloody work done if it did

Don’t quote me but I’m pretty sure it used to run over a few weeks in years past and no trades were done until the last minute anyway so they shortened it so it doesn’t drag on so long with nothing happening.

That's pretty much how I remember it.....

The 18 year olds have always been their teams best 1-3 players and put on a pedestal.
Assess kissed.

Getting burgess for 4 years locks in someone on a low salary for an extended period.
Might have some added performance based bonuses.

Will be good for the cap over the next few years if he is AFL quality - the club must be confident of this.

Dew big on both players, thinks Parsons has untapped potential.

A captain's pick by Dew!
My father used to drill into us the old mot that there's nothing more common than a man with potential
What's rare is a man with potential who makes use of it
I'm never sure about changing the habits of a player at 20 years+ of age
I wish North well in this regard with Aaron Hall, but neither McKenna Eade or presumably now Dew were able to make him into the player he could be
