Adelaide: Lose
Port: Win
WCE: Win (We are the better team, and their advantage has gone now)
Sydney: Lose

I see a 2/4, maybe 3/4
we were beaten convincingly by west coast in perth this year. Dont see that changing unless the become a complete rabble. Port will be premiership favourites. Have you seen their midfield? A much tougher proposition then Adelaide.

You just know the league is bullshit when you need to specify which MCG games are home and away games.

Good fixture. Have us 15-7 following a quick run-through (assuming reasonable luck on the injury front). Would almost certainly secure us top 4 if it's another weak year. If not, we'd still be well and truly in the hunt with that W/L ratio.

I work in the CBD so they are great for me.
So you're putting your own selfish needs ahead of the benefit of the clubs monetary situation? Awesome supporter you are.

Atleast when I claim to love the SA matches it's because we eventually have to play there as an away side.

If the Tigers want our home game to be played at their home ground they should have to buy the game from us, just as Freo had to buy Gold Coast's home game in Perth.
750k is 22000 at KP we need at least 72500 for the same at the MCG. Tigers should pay us around 900k for the 80000 attending

We play them twice next year (apparently) whilst playing Essendon and Collingwood once. We know that we will have (most likely) 2 MCG home games and 9 KP home games. One of those MCG will be v Hawthorn for Easter Monday. The other will be one of Richmond, Essendon or Collingwood.

The last home game we played against Essendon was 2016 in Round 20, which is why I believe our other MCG home game will be the Country game. We haven't hosted this game yet (2015+2016 was a Essendon home game), so I also believe this year around it will be our turn. Richmond will play a home game v us at the MCG, so there is no reason for the return match to also be at the MCG. I believe the same is true for Hawthorn, hence my belief we may be going down to Tassie to play them for their home game. Collingwood will be their home game, would not be suprised if it was at Etihad, but 80% chance it's at the G.

You were giving the AFL far too much credit. They are not striving for fairness. $$$ only.

It's a great fixture overall. Love the fact we play at Etihad once. Plenty of games at the G and GMHBA.
Just 3 Friday nights is good although exposure wise it's not. Friday nights aren't great for cats fans to attend though, so I think 3 is a good balance.

Just 5 interstate but the problem is who the away opponents are.
We don't play Freo or Lions away and I would prefer to play at spotless over the SCG. Also we don't have a great record away to the GC.
B2B interstate is the other issue but as a fan I'm wrapt with the fixture.

What are you on about? Geelong's two Friday night games in Melbourne are both away games, so realistically it doesn't matter in a financial sense (cash for bums on seats) if anyone doesn't turn up. Obviously not ideal support wise, but you're being very dramatic.

I hope the pic at the bottom wasn't supposed to be you know who.

PROS: Cats fans will see nine home games at the newly-named GMHBA Stadium, with just Easter Monday against Hawthorn and a round 13 blockbuster against premier Richmond as 'home' matches at the MCG. If things get tight late in the season, they have home matches against Melbourne, Brisbane Lions, Fremantle and Gold Coast in the final six weeks.

CONS: It's not so much the six short turnarounds Geelong has, but who its opponents are the following week. The Cats face West Coast (away), Port Adelaide (away), GWS, Essendon, Sydney (away) and Richmond off six-day breaks.

PLAY TWICE: Melbourne, Hawthorn, Gold Coast, Sydney, Richmond

BYE: Round 14

FIRST FOUR WEEKS: Melbourne (a), Hawthorn (h), West Coast (a), St Kilda (h)

LAST FOUR WEEKS: Richmond (a), Hawthorn (a), Fremantle (h), Gold Coast (h)

SIX-DAY BREAKS: Six

GAZZA'S FIRST HOME GAME: While technically 'home' for the Easter Monday match against the Hawks at the MCG, Geelong fans will see Gary Ablett back in the hoops at the Cattery for the first time in round four against the Saints.

THEY SAY: "Playing nine games at our home ground for the first time in many years will have a huge benefit to all stakeholders, and we think this also makes the fixture fairer from an integrity point of view. Our supporters constantly give us feedback of the importance of playing more games here. That the AFL has been able to work through this is a credit to their willingness to engage and listen to the people that support the club and the game so well. To have Carlton playing here for the first time since 1997 will be a huge day for supporters of both clubs. We are also excited by the on-going Powercor Country Festival match up with Essendon at the MCG in round 9." - CEO Brian Cook

WE SAY: The Cats can be all smiles with this draw. Their season is bookended by a sporting first month (three of the first four against non-finalists from last season) and a friendly final six weeks where they don't have to leave Victoria. In between the fixture is loaded with mouth-watering match-ups, although back-to-back Thursday nights away to Adelaide and Sydney will be tough. Nine matches on their home deck – where they've traditionally had such an advantage – is a huge win. - Michael Whiting
