Good to see Carlton maintaining their start to the season with yet another drubbing.
I'll raise my glass to that one MUFKilda...........they have basically been crap for the last 15 years.......but I remember them prior to that and what they always did to us.

Their current situation....LOVE IT !!!!!

Yes....I'm bitter and twisted.

LOL.

What a nail biter Swans v North. Pleased for North; that's a terrific win for them.
Interesting that the Swans have dropped a few at home this year......think that was their third.

Well I am officially clueless. I tipped North for the spoon under daylight. Thought that perhaps our Saints players would step up and show finals quality. Maybe the Dons too and the Blues would be on the rise. I saw the Eagles and Hawks continuing their delicious decent and thought that Richmond would be another one season wonder.

For EPL lovers, I also grumbled about Liverpool's purchase of the Ox and thought back at the end of 2017 that Mo Salah was our most frustrating player cos of all the chances he stuffed up.

Luckily I'm not a betting man otherwise I'd be in more trouble than Bomber Thompson.

I'd be happy if Richo could turn his form around as fast as Brad Scott snd Nathan Buckley have.

WCE fans on Twitter are super triggered about yet another Perth free kick discrepancy being pointed out.

God I hate the Eagles. The original plastics.

Anyone want to tell me that they believe north have a more talented and overall better list than us? And that they have felt that way for awhile including prior to this season starting?

Not ever going to buy into the "we don't have the cattle" narrative that I've seen thrown around here a few times as an excuse.

Except that Ben Brown has kicked as many goals as the Saints by himself probably. They needed outside run and got Hartung and guys like Mason Wood are coming on. They aren't as bad as people thought and last year was on the back of injuries and a few close loses that could have had them in the 8 if they'd won the 50/50s. Much better squad than us. We have potential and that's it. Potential doesn't win matches.

Give it rest they have a lot of experience on their list coming off tilt

Waite , Goldstein , Tarrant , Ziebell, Cunnington , Thompson , Higgins they have not bottomed out .

Stkilda have , really happy with the types we have all about development and playing them in right spots

Even bloody Carlton have not ..with Simpson , Thomas , Kreuzer , Rowe , Casboult , Murphy.

As for Mason Wood & Billy Hartung good luck backing them to be superstars in my opinion.

Mason Wood could be a seriously good footballer if he stays injury free

Billy Hartung is bog average

If I was a gun player they look a lot more enticing to me. Josh Kelly would think they are better than us.

Heard the siren, saw the scoreline. Thought the Blues would be happy it's over... Just realised its 3/4 time.
At least the Bloos are consistent.

From memory their average score last season was 70 points....and last night...SHAZAM.

And from memory, they haven't scored over 100 points since 2/3 of the way thru the 2016 season.

That may need a fact check.....but sounds a really great stat.

Our clubs have the same number of 26+ players on the list, I think the major difference is we are getting a lot more out of our older group atm which has positives and negatives. On the positive side, we are playing better because of it. On the negative side it makes them harder to replace and a shorter window to replace them.

Waite was told before coming to our club that he would be given another year for as long as he played good footy and met KPIs, it was something Carlton refused to do and they would have put him out to pasture well before now had he remained at Carlton. Waite is very underrated in terms of his defensive work rate, I think it was the main reason we retired Harvey off, because defensively he was a liability, as was Dal Santo. Waite is different in that not only does he impact the scoreboard, he sets a high benchmark for defensive workrate and while Wood has had a lot of injury problems the last few years, he has also had a lot of work to do defensively.

I think clubs need good experienced players, a good strong core unit that sets a high benchmark of what you need to achieve, in that regard retaining Waite created a good role model for our young forwards. Wood has a very good tank and his ability to get back and take strong marks around half back was critical in our win against the Swans. I don't know if he will become a good consistent player or not, but he hasn't been just gifted games because there is a vacancy, he wasn't going to just get games because he has some good attacking traits, he was forced to go to the VFL and work on the defensive side of his game. You can't do that when you side is bereft of experienced senior players. Carlton is putting a lot of footballers out on the park who have a lot of flaws and there are too few role models and leaders so they are just going to produce too many players with too many flaws due to the lack of a strong core experienced group.

Hartung isn't a star, will never be a star, we obviously would have preferred to have picked up Kelly last year but we still need players with his kind of traits and it provides our team with a better balance. We were too slow last year, with the retirement of Swallow and moving on of Gibson and moving Ziebell forward it has given us a better structure, fewer inside types, a bit more leg speed which has helped both offensively and defensively.

Think it could be now 38 matches in a row where Carlton have failed to score over 100, which is by far the longest in the AFL era.

I don't know why I dislike Carlton so much. I know they used to be a great side, but now they just seem anaemic and lifeless. There's just nothing about them of any interest, and I'm enjoying their pain. I've taken a dislike to Hawthorn due to their dreadful brown and yellow kit, which makes them look like overripe bananas, and also their conceit. No explanation required as why I don't like Essendon. I like to see the so called less fashionable Melbourne giving the traditional big boys a bloody nose, and don't mind North, Demons and Bulldogs, though that would probably change, if they became very successful.

Amazing isn't it.

And we thought we were bad..........well..........

MUFKilda...........as I mentioned in an earlier post, they have been crap for about the last 15 years but for the previous 30 years, they'd dished out some frightful beltings to us.

My most vivid memory was at Princes Park in the late 80's when it was the crazy money days before the "recession we had to have".

Carlton were the rich arrogant club doing anything they liked.

They were absolutely chockers with rich business people as "supporters"

As usual....our cameo role was that of the pauper.

Anyway...I went to the game with an ex workmate and his partner...both down to earth Blues supporters.

We snagged some seats on the fence on the outer wing....it started raining and we had a sheet of plastic to take cover under...it rained all afternoon.

We as usual were getting belted and I peered out from under the plastic to the newly completed John Elliott stand directly across from us.

It was completely full......both levels with business suits and white shirts.....rows and rows and rows of them.

I remember John Elliot flew out from Paris a French Interior designer to deck out his Presidents Box......this was the crazy pre recession days.....the Bloos were dripping in money.

No tissues for me with their current plight.

Is it still the case that Carlton fans are often the well-to-do and gentile type?

And Josh would be right.
We are rubbish of the highest order, and if not for the Dons we we'd be getting roasted 24/7 on every band wave. The only benefit of being a pissant club is that no one gives a crap while there's something else to look at.
