3 years seems too long.

Needs to improve his pressure.
You are probably right - 3 yrs would be too long for a 'punt' , but if it comes off and he can recover his confidence, I'm thinking he will reward us as a very dangerous forward option - especially with Harry & Charlie to bring it to ground (though most of Charlies seem to stick OK).

Jesus. Over-modding much? Not everything has to be a freaking discussion you know. First night back in the forum in weeks and the first poll I have created in 9 years as I was genuinely interested (eg. yes or no) in the split of who wanted Fasolo at the club or not, and it's merged into another endless thread within 20 minutes. Bigfooty really is becoming bland. Think I'll take my bat and ball and move on.

I voted no for the record!

But he is wrong for our culture because Fasolo is a conditional footballer, who picks and chooses, when he is focussed and on
Sometimes a change of club can fix that... see Varco. Agree he can pick and choose but again 29 goals in 2016 with a disfunctional Magpie forward line. We have a few who play with the right attitude (O’Shea) but lack the skills and I am tired of them. I am hoping we can fix an atttitude, we can’t fix lack of skill. I believe worth the risk at 2 years.

We can either draft/trade aggressively ala Hawks, or we can sit on our hands and watch as players go elsewhere.
God I hope not.

Think we have traded very aggressively since SOS returned to the club, and every chance we'll do so again at the end of this season.

With regards to the Hawks, they underwent a rebuild when Clarkson was appointed coach - how many 24 year old players did they draft in the first few rounds of the draft, in the early years of their rebuild?

Save the patronising tone.
How many thought they paid overs for many of their big fish, and further to that, how many criticised those appointments at the time?

SOS draft last year:
Dow: 9.5/10 (I always thought Cerra was better but now I’m not quite sure. The top prospects, Stephenson and Higgins, had their risks, so I think this would be close to the best pick)

O’Brien: 6.5/10 (this boy managed to go at pick 10, while there were better options. Richards is a clear one (correct me if he is FS), but Boner and Fogarty, who came directly after him, are also high on the list. Let’s see how it plays out)

De. Koning 9/10 (SOS was good to see the upcoming ruck situation and bringing in a strong ruck (or forward?). De. Koning is showing significant signs and should be a top player in years to come.)

Schumacher 10/10 (I think we found the steal of the draft)

Yep, reckon Shuey has shown the most at AFL level so far.

I think O'Brien will surprise you.

I've been pleased with his efforts so far. He will be an essential ingredient of our success in the future, make no mistake about that. Richards I liked as well but he won't find the ball and break lines as well as LOB in the future IMO.

Yep, reckon Shuey has shown the most at AFL level so far.

To be fair, I think he wasn't ranking them as players but as selections at those picks.

I assume his 10/10 for Schumacher was that he is showing some very good signs for pick 70.

It's like how Williamson at 61 is worth 10/10 even if he doesn't end up as good as SPS, Fisher, others picked at the pointy end.

Reading a bit about Sam Collins this morning, would be nice to add him to the list and move on from Sam Rowe. I know he does a job but his disposal and decision making has always been an issue that costs goals.

Decision making his worst. Can never question his intent but his decisions are not good enough, often enough for how deep in defence he plays. But he has played some really good footy at times, but struggle to see much of it this year. I reckon he has got about as much out of himself as we can expect at this age now.

If you're going to talk risk in regards to Dow, Stephenson & Higgins I think it's only fair to mention it with Boner (multiple knee recos) and Fogarty (speculative pick regarding tank and midfield potential, blatant 'go home' factor).

From all reports Richards was our next choice after O'Brien and we know that if we passed on Lochie he was high on Sydney's radar and they tend to have a knack for picking some good ones.

We already know about O'Brien's athletic ability, I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do next year after a full preseason. He's got a bit of the 'Fishers' about him for mine: not in playing style but more that we're seeing all the intent and glimpses of what he can do and I've got a feeling that come round 1 he'll have improved his conditioning, put on some mass and walk into 2019 with a good deal more confidence than he had this year... fingers crossed then it all clicks...

Sam Collins is prone to Ed Curnow type errors kicking across the field in our defensive 50 line that goes straight to the opposition for a turnover goal.

Weitering, Marchbank, Jones, Plowman, Macreadie, Rowe + rookie defender is ample for key tall backs.

Save the patronising tone.

There was no tone - apologies if it came across differently.

How many thought they paid overs for many of their big fish, and further to that, how many criticised those appointments at the time?

Which "big fish" are you talking about? And how early did they move for one in their rebuild?

BTW wouldn't call Collins a big fish...

can we expect to see these two play senior footy? I haven't seen any highlights of them yet..hope you are correct.

you have an eye for detail....:thumbsu:
