If I have to pay for the footy expresss I expect

1. Membership prices frozen/lowered as there was an element of paying for this incorporated in already I believe

2. The timetable to allow for a bus that arrives closer to the start of the game than 45mins rather than forcing me there early hoping i spend more $$

wouldn't bother me having no footy express, we always drive in
You do understand if it becomes a user pay system them there be another 10k vehicle's going to the game looking for car parks.
Take away Footy Express and 95% of people who go to the game are affected. not just the people who currently use the system.

Wouldn't they still do footy express, you would just have to pay for it

And like they did before footy express, most drove the cars to the ground.
Different oval though. more parking more room

The city is different

Footy Express will still run but as a user pays system

Move to a user pay system and most people will drive and the bus and trains usage will drop off.
Yes there will be a drop off. Until people realise they cant park for free and the Nth Adelaide residents cry and or the car parks fill up

People will grumble and moan and some may even not renew their membership, but not all will drive

Affecting all the people who currently drive into the game. even an extra 3,000 would be bad. and a security nightmare
No, they will look at the system and keep it, considering a lot of cities around the world are adopting the system,
It would seem backward to make it a user pay system,

You seem unfamiliar with the Liberal Party

The city copes with significantly more people coming in and out in cars each working day than come to the city for a football game. Car parking will be fine.

I’d prefer they just left it as it is. But I’m going to be ****en pissed if they keep a free footy express system but just whack the price on to the membership. If govt isn’t going to subsidize then make it user pays.

Except people are going all over the city to live and work, not all to a single point in North Adelaide, not to mention what happens when that overlaps on Thursdays and Fridays. People are all going to try and cram into the nearest uparks, and then complain loudly when they have to park south of Wakefield St and walk the rest of the way unless they turn up 3 hours early.

SMA have already sent out renewals. My membership has gone from $685 to $690 so not a huge jump.

I’m not sure why people expect the government to pay for their transportation to the footy.

It won’t lead to a significant number of cars as there is little parking.

People will still catch the bus.

At no other time do people have their transportation paid for and why should people who don’t go to the footy have to subsidise those that do?

Who cares if they complain?

It's ridiculous that this happens .....even moreso in Adelaide

In Melbourne where travel times are 3 times longer to get to the footy ....parking twice as difficult and expensive, we don't even have that discussion

The trouble is ...how do the clubs backout of this stupid arrangement, without in the Crows case ....getting even more bad publicity

I don’t think it’s a crows/port issue re bad publicity

This is government issue. Clubs passing on costs will be governments fault. Likely clubs will pass it on in part only and try stay the good guy also.

Maybe SMA will absorb the cost but then food/drink will go up again to cover it.

Is this the 1st time it’s been said the intention was always to move the way of non govt subsidized service? If so is that liberal telling a lie or were labour hiding that fact. Depends which party you ask I guess

Melbourne’s the only city with a user pays system for all matches though.

Sydney, Brisbane, Perth and even the Gold Coast all generally include transport in tickets to events at their respective stadiums.

Its just not the football either. Concerts and Cricket also have this component . The Governments DO recognise the external issues and would rather encourage people to utilise PT

1 - I’d expect a drop in member prices if it becomes user pays.

2 - You’d hope they still timetable additional PT regardless of whether it’s user pays or not. Yep, patronage will drop significantly, but you can’t expect people to wait an hour after the game for a train to take them home.

This is Stephen Knoll we’re talking about here, who has zero knowledge of how Adelaide Metro works despite being the transport minister.

It was never the case, when I lived in Adelaide ......i never expected anything but to find my own way to matches
It's such a short drive anywhere in Adelaide ! ......in Melbourne it's to the stage of at allowing an hour, if I go to the MCG or work related .....sometimes if on the opposite side of the city it's an hour and half

I had a Sydney Client this week tell me he travels 2 hours to work every day ....and 2 hours home

Furtherest trip i made for footy in Adelaide was Somerton to Elizabeth .....you Adelaidians don't realise how good you have it, but still complain

I must be missing something. Why should Crows and Port supporters be subsidised to catch free public transport to home games? What a waste of money. If they want to catch a train or bus in, that's their decision, and should pay for it themselves. Or do we think attendences will suffer? If having to pay for a train fare themselves is the difference between someone attending the footy or not, then the SA economy is in even more trouble than I thought.

And as a SMA member even at $690-py it is a rip-off. I’m also a full AFL member and for $610-py I can get 40 H&A games at the G, first two weeks of all finals at the G for about $21- per game and access to PF and GF at discounted prices.

Someone is making s killing at AO!

All major event in Adelaide have the same system, Show your ticket and it a free ride. They started the big bash free rides in 2016, Concerts since Adelaide Oval revamp. Any major event in Adelaide that has public transport close by, has the ability to apply for the service, believe the cost is around $2 plus a ticket.

It not the difference between attending games, its the difference in taking public transport or driving to the games.
The areas around Adelaide would struggle with the influx of vehicles on game days, particularly for the Crows games and major events.
And contrary to popular belief Football is not the only event that has free transport with there tickets into Adelaide.
