Jeez, David King was really pumping up Max Kings tyres....you’d think they were related. He said he’s “in love with this guy.”

Yeah I like him saying Max reminded him if Matthew Richardson with his marking. Lets just hope Max's goal kicking is better. Looking at him standing beside Richo he looks enormous.

I would liked to have seen the saints do a trade with GWS, giving up our 2019 1st round pick for pick 11 and 22 to grab Caldwell.

Oh well all in the past now. Glad we picked Max King. Has a good degree of confidence about himself. Now to get Ben to the saints in two years time for a 2nd round pick ;)

“But we need class mids....”

Hmmmm

Did Hanners, Clark, Coffield, Gresh & Steele die recently or something?

Nevermind the fact that our top goal kickers the last 2 years have been Gresham & Membrey.

Absolutely stoked with Max King.
Agree with you about Max but your list of class mids isnt too compelling. Gresh hasn't proved he can be a mid yet, neither has Coff. Hoping they can step up in that area but we are definitely short of classy midfielders.

I would have said we’re short of classy players in every part of the ground....

The Blues trade showed what you needed to give up to get into the first round. Giants wouldn't have done that trade.

We are short of good consistent mids, never mind classy. The hope is that the likes of Dunstan and Acres can step up along with a few others.

End of the day Max was too good to pass up on and it is easier to recruit midfielders through trade. I mean shit we just got Hannebery for a 2nd rounder.

They should play the draft out.
This splitting 1st round and remaining rounds into separate nights is BS.
Gives clubs an opportunity to reassess and reset with less chance for sliders.
Takes the interest out and makes it more of a snooze fest

It takes way to long, clubs should be allowed to nominate as soon as they are ready, none of this have to wait 5 minutes crap. But you are right it should be done on the same day.

So after R1 we have gone down two picks in R2 from 36 to 38 but gave gone up 3 in R3 from 46 to 43.
There are 15 picks before our first and a few F/S and Academy picks that may be used before 43.

Could still go down a few in both.

The club believes Mccartin and King will both be in our forward line once King comes on so please let’s stop with the “Paddy is gone now” rubbish.
Paddy hasn’t lost his talent, the only thing that stops him is his body. Fingers crossed they both get over their recent injury issues and we see them both in the same St Kilda side in the second half of next season.
Max will ultimately be a KPF and 5 min per quarter relief ruck. Perfect, exactly the player we needed.

Pisses me off this "a strong Carlton/Essendon is good for the competition". No a competition where 18 clubs are viable and have some hope of one day winning it is good for the competition.
The competition has been stronger than ever for the last 15 years. Not sure what Carlton has done in that time.

Key forward/relief ruck has become a fundamental position over the last few seasons. Max could be the best of the lot.

the Peter Wright a few posters have wanted for a few years, only better hopefully :D

Made a mistake

R2 38
R3 43
R4 61
R5 74

38 - Marlion Pickett
43 - Kyle Reid
61 - Tom Jok
74 - Pass

Then review and look at guys like Hartung/Partington or another senior body as a rookie option.

Think if max reaches a Ben brown type level it’s a big win .. better than that will be unreal

Will be better than that.

More like Joe Daniher with the way he moves and marks the ball. If he stays healthy & we get our ball movement right he is going to be all class.

Paddy as the 2nd tall forward ala Roughy, Kosi, Brownless or Longmire is going to be a treat as well. Free him up from the double team & just let him MDK defenders in the contest.

Members the third tall and lead up option. Bit of enforcer about him as a senior head in the trio.

Gonna be like 2004 when we had Roo, G-Train and Hammers rolling through the forward line.

Just need to sort out the midfield and find that Stevie Milne option & we are set!

I couldn't be any happier than how round 1 played out. Looked a clear gap between the top 4 and everyone else, and we took best available and didn't do anything stupid. Our guy was viewed by plenty as #1 pick material before the ACL, and it's not an injury that should change his outlook/potential. Then, Ben goes to the interstate cesspool of Gold Coast, the absolute best case scenario if we are going to lure him to St Kilda in 2 years. Very glad we passed on Rozee (I don't see a top 5 AFL talent there).

Good to see you happy there bud. It was a long year and a few of us grumpier posters are not unhappy. That's got to be a bonus.
