Parker and Young seriously fast players addressing a need for speed and small forward creativity and pressure. Lonie won’t be getting gifted any more games!!!

Don’t know much about Hind but don’t really see why we selected him. ??? What will be his role? Will he get a game? Who’s spot does he take??

Not to Moz the lad, but there’s a touch or two of Lenny in Bytel. Ground ball get, sidestep, draw tackler, release to runner. There’s gonna be some competition between the young mids.
Looks like a Parker/Hanners how did they get to the 40s job. Rapt on this one. Good character etc. Absolutely stoked.

I'm guessing the club have been targeting these boys for a while now, which makes sense with them being hesitant re lonie

I watched the Young highlights package on the Saints site. He is fast and looks a great tackler , did some bruising tackles. Kicks a great goal from boundary. Likes to run and take the game on like Joey used to. Does favour the left foot but I can live with that at least until we can see If he can kick on right as well. Very happy with our choices. Hind the only one I'm not sure about yet but I will give him the benefit of the doubt at the moment.

Looks exciting for the future with the young guys we already have.

agree with the monty comparison, similar stride and gait

Tom McKenzie (Vic Metro)

Clubs: Northern Knights/Vic Metro

Position: Midfielder

Size: 184cm, 80kg

Bio: Speedy midfielder who can also play across half back. He recorded the fastest 20m sprint at the AFL draft combine in October. He uses it well by hand and can win the ball in the contest.

(Rookie??)

Some of the live trading was a bit strange, but I am obviously unfamiliar with it.

Happy with King & Bytel, both very talented players, however with injuries concerns.

the mature age picks were interesting, can't really judge them now but obviously we wanted to address our age profile. They all seem to have some good attributes that address our deficiencies and a bit of excitement in the game style.

Will also be good for Supercoach hacks like me that can't resist have a few saints rookies.

I got burnt picking Coffield last season as a mid/def rookie, mind you a lot of other rookies were just as as unreliable as he was.

A worse decision was picking Armitage as a starting mid, thinking he could be an underpriced mid bargain, needless to say that didn't work out well.

Going to be really interesting trying to pick our best side for next year now. How are we going to fit everyone in lol. Obviously Bytel has to play if fit just for the 7th Jack thing alone. Big Max will obviously be missing until late in the year I suspect. That leaves our new mature players including Kent and Hanners. Who will miss out?

You would think all of Parker, Young, Hind and Kent will be pushing for selection early since they are mature players and not 18 year olds.

Also... once we traded 75 and the fourth for 67, I realised we no longer had a pick to upgrade Marshall. Does anyone know what happened there? Can we sign him as a rookie again or did we just use a later pick as upgrade they didn’t show during the draft?

He was already upgraded.

The picks being tracked in the draft were the 'live' picks, nothing used for upgrades.

Senior list changes -

Hickey - Marshall
Freeman - Hannebery
Stevens - Kent
Goddard - King
Weller - Bytel
Gilbert - Hind
Wright - Parker
Minch - Young

We have 1 rookie spot to fill with Marshall now on the senior list.

Geary - Carlisle - Webster
Roberton - Austin - Coffield
Billings - Ross - Gresham
Kent - Membrey - Young
Long - Bruce - Parker
Marshall - Steven - Hannebery
Steele - Acres - Battle - Hind

All of the pace and mobility!!!

I'd like to see us take Pickett, just to pair him up with Parker. My other personal option would be to draft Kyle Reid. Solid rebounding KPD prospect who was AA.

Tom Jok the other name we have been linked to alot and would be a great rookie prospect.

Kent will definitely be a starter since he is an established AFL player that we traded for, the others will need to impress in the pre-season to get a start.

A lot of people saying asking who's spot will be taken I also am not sure. However we only won 4 games last year so I think its safe to say that there are only a core group of players (the usual - stevo, manners, gresh, carlisle, webster, etc.). I'm hoping these mature recruits can actually make our 22. Probably not all of them but some, the pace they look like they have is something we could really use.

Our starting 22 for 2018 round 1 was
Geary Brown Roberton
Webster Carlisle Savage
Long Stevens Newnes
Acres McCartin Billings
Gresham Bruce Membrey

Longer Ross Steven

Armitage Clark Sinclair Steele

This team is a lot different compared to the one we ended up with, bear in mind a lot changes.
