Did you miss the bit where Port increased revenue by over $5 mill?

I would expect Adelaide to increase their revenue substantially this year too. They had a good year and maxed out on bums on seats as most supporters thought you'd win the flag.

It's amazing what both S.A. clubs can achieve when (mostly) free from the SANFL'S clutches.
Most clubs had a revenue increase of at least 5%. Expecting it’s further funds from the new tv deal

Your President was trying to convince everyone that most clubs get 2% growth but he’s wrong

Also tried to claim the revenue growth was China, but he’s either wrong on that or you’ve lost $5m elsewhere.

The last time there was so much angst about a profit, Muhammad was slandered.....

Port are in a world of hurt. A manufactured 'profit' of $28,611 in a year where they knew that they absolutely HAD TO post a profit to save face after China, tells you that they're on the edge right now.

Have a look at their last 6 years:
2012 – 2,117,071 loss
2013 – 1,772,103 loss
2014 – 1,091,999 loss
2015 – 211,302 profit
2016 – 14,840 profit
2017 – 28,611 profit

They're not making much of a dent are they?

So basically just a way to make something sound better than it actually is?

Most do that,
We talk about our Cash profit, then mention our depreciation, which will be a Loss this year.
As it stands we have to write off our complete training venue and HQ over the next 5- 10 years. in order to set up for a move.

It's only recently, over the past week or so (thank you Geoffa32), come to my attention that fat Ollie hasn't signed and yet his contract ends this year. Is this correct?

Not much media about that. It's probably just a fait accompli, Port being the destination club and everything, but why is he spared the incessant scrutiny that Sloane has to endure? Being the world's best midfielder, I'd have thought there'd be at least the same amount of agitation surrounding him as there is Sloane.
Beautiful irony would be Rockliff, Watts and Motlop have all his money

Didn't we already do that?

You could be right, I am under the belief we have an investment in the building it will take a few years to completely write it off. Not fully conversed with the subject but there are some on BF that can explain it better.
Believe it has something to do with their training venue being leased, and when the lease expired they will be forced to move out. so any money spent on renovating the building is a loss. And the Crows spent a few bucks Just before the Adelaide Oval shift. Too much to write off in one hit.
Because the Crows will be forced to move there situation and asset reporting is different I believe.
Again there are others out there with a lot better understanding than me,

The above is jibberish for I am not sure.

When I hear the news I hear great news Port have made a 1 million surplus... Why do the mention that not the 28 thousand profit?

Oh boy it's Day 279

#signollie

why hasn't Ollie signed?

This book is for him, because he can have overnight success in 279 days when he signs with a victorian club
I actually thanked Geoffa32 for keeping us up to date but I see it is thee deaneus who should also be thanked.

Why are there so many Port trolls here all of a sudden? Did they win the January premiership again?
They're conspiracy theorists who think we only announced Pyke re-signed because we wanted to steal their profit thunder.

Well if we wanted to steal their profit thunder we could've made an announcement that was equally huge..... like that CEY was going to extend his rookie contract

I just value your opinion Geoffa, I mean how could I not? You've always been such a wealth of knowledge of the inner workings of not only our two great clubs, but the AFL in general.I mean sure, (much) more often than not you're wrong, but I always have time for someone with the knowledge, financial background, and inside sources that you have, so I too can be completely up to speed with all things AFL.

Clearly an error and not there now
Got to be some kind of record - I may have liked that for a full 5 seconds before I re clicked on the correct "add to multi quote" button !
Jesus - do you watch EVERY post I make ?

But I do realize the importance you flogs place on "likes" and how highly you would value one from me

Alas, and woe for you - it was merely a glitch

Can’t everyone make a profit if you draw a line before all the costs come out.

Shit, lost a million! Quick, move the line

Phew profitable once again

I don’t care if it’s us or them surely profit is once you have taken account of everything. If it doesn’t matter you wouldn’t have to take account of it at all

Our club does the same thing by reporting our operating profit.

Depreciation is a non cash expense so I have no problem at all with most of the clubs reporting figures prior to depreciation.
