Poor Port .....another wasted year coming up
Look captain hindsight,Crows
Negatives
Positives
- Lost draft picks
- Temporary slump in sponsorship
- Lost Tippett
- Didn't pay Tippett to stay
- Lost Trigg
Swans
Negatives
Positives
- Gained Tippett
- Paid Tippett
- Still paying Tippett
- Tippett was always injurred
- Lost COLA (This is the big one)
- .......... I can't think of anything.
Overall, I'd say the Swans.
I got to it through google. Basically says that because Tippett's payout was so high, it doesn't fit in this year's salary cap and has to be included in next year's as well - so he will probably have to be listed so that they can pay him. So 2 years as a listed player without playing.

Wines is probably worth that much.
Mrouch will be worth that much too if he continues with 2017 form. Just watch out for the next contract negotiation. Big $$ unless he falls off a cliff.
The Francis scenario is the reason why we shouldn't be so overly abusive of players out of form. Who knows what kind of severe stress they're dealing with behind the scenes? A close family member death or suffering from a serious illness, are just a few reasons that can trigger a mental breakdown for anyone, let alone just footballers.
You are back to your old habits again I see. The point I was making is that players playing poorly can have a lot more serious underlying mental issues than a typical fan would think. You have the right to hate a player out of form as a footy fan, but hurling ongoing abuse may add to their mental issues rather than improve the situation.Players out of form shouldn't be paraded in front of us at AFL level being shit for long stretches. They should roll back to the SANFL and get their hands on the footy. That's what Mackay finally ended up doing and he returned in better fettle. If a player is out of form but still selected, the selectors deserve everything thrown at them and the player is just collateral damage. And anything happening in their personal life is entirely irrelevant Got problems, deal with them in the less stressful arena of the SANFL. I've read some idiotic statements and yours is right up there amongst the best of them.
Jesus. The guy makes a comment that the way people carry on, personally attacking players for a game could damage those player's mental health, and you jump down his throat. That is a bit much.Players out of form shouldn't be paraded in front of us at AFL level being shit for long stretches. They should roll back to the SANFL and get their hands on the footy. Sydney really got little value from him from his spluttering first season up until his much criticised final season. He was inept in his one and only GF appearance and except for a few games his performance was like his final three years with us......just average to good. And that contract was a disaster for our club. Thanks to some ridiculous thinking from both sides of the negotiations.I got to it through google. And yet we retain all our required players and still have room for Rockliff, Watts and Motlop and a war chest to spend this year. They’re paying that dud Hartlett 700k a year so Wines is worth 800k to them.
Do you want us to bump previous comments from the Pear Board about what superstars Lobbe, Trengrove, Impey etc were until they left and then they become spuds. And yet we retain all our required players and still have room for Rockliff, Watts and Motlop and a war chest to spend this year.

LOL and yet you pay heaps for a player you didn't want to retain. AND pay heaps for players whose clubs also didn't want to retain them. And yet we retain all our required players and still have room for Rockliff, Watts and Motlop and a war chest to spend this year.

Is anyone interested in joining a 10 team full keeper/dynasty league that operates on big footy boards using SuperCoach scoring?
We’re about to start our third season and have 1 team free.
We try to make it realistic - have squads of 44 and you have to play key forwards and key backs each week.
Please pm me or reply to this post if you are interested.
Cheers

I know the end sneak up, but he'll go close you'd think. Though at 1mil per year, it will sting even if he only falls a couple short.

Disagree if you like, but the snideness is unnecessary.Look captain hindsight,
We absolutely got reamed. By our own administration.
We gave up 2 years of first and second round picks, plus what we would have got in trade for Tippett, who was worth a first and second rounder at the time.
For nothing.
There's no way we come out on top from that. Imagine 2x more 23 yo 2012 draft picks playing in our GF team last year.
Don't try to paper over the cracks. It hurt us big.
Essendon, the 2018 fairytale…as I predicted….oooooh about a half way through the GF.Good lord, the Herald Sun is going HARD on the Essendon hype this year. Devon Smith, Jake Stringer, Andrew McGrath, Darcy Parish, all going to be "unleashed" in the midfield this year.
