If I go cold on starting Robbie Gray with him missing Rnd1 and/or a thin defense then...
Gray -> McLean
Libba -> Brodie
Cole -> Lloyd

With around 80K in the bank.

Pretty set on all this. It's purely premiums I'm confident finish top in their position with minimal mid pricers

I like the original team, like the structure but not a Fan of Ryder (due to bye) and Greene (slow pre season). Greene should start the season slow.

Decided against the JOM, Bundy, Sicily, Coniglio etc mid price bonanza. Whilst all are capable of 90-100 averages I don't see any of them averaging enough to be in my finals side. So if I'm going to have to burn a trade later I might as well get that cash cow money generation now. Petracca is the exception as I just have this hunch he may break out this season and move into premo status.

Still am tempted to tank the R14 bye (with the aim of dominating the other 2 weeks) and going full #yolo and selecting Joel/Gaz as well. Can't believe we'll have the best starting mid group in the comp yet 3 of the 4 will be PODS.

Is that Cyril or Willie on the bench?

If Willie, reckon beef your forwards up +1 somehow, not keen on relying on 2 or more small forward types and them churning out 30s/40s

Rayner for F5 could work though if he can get upfield a bit

Houli had calf soreness a week ago which is a bit of a red flag, not a fan. Injuries seem to be creeping in for him.

Forwards are way too light imo, overspending in the mids is choking the forward line. Only value pick is Petracca (and Gawn/Fyfe), don't see how you win $50k by paying top dollar for everyone.

If he doesn't then I'd rather find a mid replacement. Sure it sounds good to start an extra mid but the forward rookies are a disaster waiting to happen I think. Garlett and Rioli look like Relton Reynolds and both injury prone, Ryan did nothing for 3 quarters in the JLT, Langdon has suspect JS, Fritsch looks good but still is a small forward.

I'm aware the forward line is anaemic atm. I'm toying with the idea of wearing it due to the forwards being a dumpster fire. Mids become set and forget very early on.

To get that 4th fwd it'd be sacrificing Fyfe (who could become Selwood) and in doing so save 90k. Yet Fyfe/Selwood should average 105-110 and I don't see any of Gray, Dahlhaus, Billings, Menegola, Mundy etc achieving a 100 average so why downgrade points to save 90k? If they were likely to acheive similar output then no brainer but doubt they will. Let's face it a 4th FWD premo or 6th MID premo you're picking them for the season and with the purpose of being good enough not to trade them to someone better. I trust the 6th mid options more than I do the remaining fwd's.

In addition to this Power and Suns players are worth gold as they'll be playing when a bulk of teams have their bye. They'll be easy to cover when they have their bye and will be worth gold when others have theirs.

I'm open to the idea that I'm missing something - I just can't see what it is?

I understand your thoughts about going VERY deep in your midfield .....but part of this game is cash generation, which this year is likely to be Midfield Rookies (primary source) & Defense (secondary source) ..........you're restricting your midfield $$$$ generation, but also some Rookies will score well, & you've taken that opportunity away & weakened other areas of your team

Bonner "might" make a reasonable D4 ? ......but he's no D3 & not even guaranteed a permanent spot in the side ?? .....it was stated on Sat, that Port have 8 HBF players of good quality to choose from

Wallis is a big ???? .....wasn't picked in the Bulldogs final squad of 26 ?

Understandable but I - like many others - will target him after his bye. Playing through all bye rounds is handy, but missing rd 1 and 10 isnt.

Went down the exact same path for virtually the same reason with the same mid-pricers!

I had Redden, but it was a choice between him and Libba, so the latter won out.

Bless Pendlebury for being the prince of SC but there's been plenty of red flags from him this Pre season. Buckley will stuff him around and he's been picking up injuries. Looked very disinterested in the JLT for what its worth.
