Just proves that there's a big difference between leading and being a leader.

Its more a case that many of who you mentioned could set an example but weren't actual leaders. I never really saw Roo as a great "leader" - more a player who set the example of trying to get the best out of himself. Not dissing him - I just think leadership is an exceptionally difficult thing to actually do well.

Currently I'd rate Zeibell, J Selwood as the best but they'd both be a mile behind Hodgey!!!

My wife was listening to some psych podcast that had some stuff on self motivation and how controlling partners can rewire partners brains to be less self motivated and so I imagine leaders are similar. BJ probably wouldn't be a good leader for that reason. Perhaps our leaders were dominators not enablers?

Interesting Dal throwing Roo and Joey under the bus saying the kids had nobody to learn from.
Weren't they there up until this season?
Obviously Dal didn't rate them.

Interesting

He seemed to think them getting involved would be good. Didn't bag them at all.

I was going to say something similar but then thought it over. As an employee you need to be empowered to do things, even if you're a leader. If Roo and Joey were suggesting things but it didn't gain any traction, it's not really their fault.

I also heard news today about one of our best 22 ( not Billings) has told his manager he wants out . He said hes not the only one . He’s contracted for next year . I can’t say who it is as it came from his family . Has me worried about how many we may lose next year if Richo can’t turn this around.
A mid year sacking next year might be required if we’re still looking bad half way thru next year
God that's a kick in the guts. Do these guys know there are supporters out there that have to put up with the shit these guys call football every week? What about showing some guts and trying to turn around the club that we love. No, instead they bail as soon as it gets hard. Pathetic.

There is no way we would agree to let Gresh go. If he asked, we better flat out refuse to trade him and do whatever we need to do over the next 12 months to change his mind.

Looking at the list, I hope its Dunstan.
Ok
I won’t keep saying who it isn’t until there is only one player left , but thankfully the player isn’t Gresh.

Is he entrenched best 22, will we cry?

It didn't sound as bad on the radio. I thought he was quite measured and wants what's best for us still.

I thought it was pretty bad. Basically saying our preparation was nowhere near good enough....and the first person he’d hire was a skills coach so they can kick it to someone in the same jumper!!
Doesn’t get more pointed than that.

Dal & BJ might have left, but the 2014 list had - Riewoldt, Schneider, Gwilt, Geary, Dempster, Fisher, Jones, Ray, Armitage, Steven, Hayes, Montagna.

Seriously, no lack of experience in that outfit to pass on the good stuff.
Do we really think a groups leadership will be as good after they’ve been told they’re no longer competing for the main prize. It’s was all about their super for those guys by then.

Knowing that it isnt Gresh or JB is all I need to know, and its a relief.
We could cover anyone else but those two are our most important players moving forward.

It wasnt a great look, but I got the impression he actually cared and was hurting about the way we are at the moment.
Give me Dal speaking like that over someone like Whately or Kingy where you can hear the joy in their voices over our current mess.

Agree absolutely. Good for him for being honest about it.
When I said it was “pretty bad” I meant what it said about the club, not that he was saying it.

Not Gresh, not JB.
Steele, Clark, Coff, Battle, Clav, Membrey, Jake & Jimmy...possibly Marshall, Long and Robbo

Anyone else is free to go IMO

We've offered Mitch Wallis a contract - not interested in coming here. Wants to stay and a deal should get done. If he goes anywhere it's Essendon but very unlikely, put a line through him. Vague interest in Roughead but he's a good chance to end up at Port, as I mentioned the other day. Liberatore will also be offered a new contract by WB.

Kind of annoying that I only hear stuff WB related and not my own club, but I would definitely have taken Libba if he was keen and the Dogs were happy to let him go.

If Roughead goes to Port, Lycett isn’t. We’re a big chance

Tom Morris said today that Lycett and Hannebery are looking more likely to be playing for us by the day, especially Hanners

No one else would spend that money on Hanners, that's for sure. We have money to burn.

Only four years older than Baldock - but 12cm taller which should make up for the difference. Get him in!

Shhh keep him under our hats, we don't want other clubs grabbing him first.

What's the rumoured $$$ offer for Lycett? Would have to be enormous to have him even considering this steaming pile of trash we call a football club right now.
