Fixed it for youYou would have to think that one of:
Hickey/Longer are gone for a pack of chips
and
Paddy/Bruce are gone for a pack of chips
and
Billings is gone for a first
and maybe
Dunstan gone for a pack of chips
and
Ross could be gone for first/second
We won't know next years side.

Perfect three way trade that keeps all clubs happy without the need for 2018 draft selections to be hindered.
Geelong are ultra keen to find a long term replacement and/or foil for Hawkins.
Fremantle are ultra keen to lure Tim Kelly back to WA.
St Kilda are ultra keen to bolster their midfield stocks.
McCartin (and change) to Geelong/ Tim Kelly to Fremantle/ Cerra to St Kilda.
Nobody really loses as Kelly and Cerra will eventually head home (be it now or next contract) and McCartin gets a fresh start back home. Geelong may want something more added to the deal but i think that could be arranged in some fashion without touching our picks.
Thoughts?

Kelly is good but is also 24 and near his peak. Cerra could be anything and at 19 has a lot of upside (and was pick 5 which means something 1 year out from the draft). Cerra looks composed with the ball, good kick and can win the inside ball. Easily could become on of the best mids in the comp.
If Cerra does leave i think Freo will hold out for a high first round pick. Will be interesting though as he said he will sign a contract extension at the end of the year.
I would like that we started recruiting players who don’t look like serial killersView attachment 543816
That's where.
I'm not one for just statistics.. They can be used either way in every argument. But Lycett has always played second fiddle to NN. Agree that he hasn't showm so far to be the messiah - but he has the feel of a ruck nearing peak age to take hold of games.
Look at his past month since Nic Nat has been out. He has been one of the best afield in 2-3 of those games when given the chance. For his stats this year to compare nearly identical to Hickey's whilst only playing 40% ruck time is pretty good.
trout? is that you?I would like that we started recruiting players who don’t look like serial killers
Really do think the Saints will go after every free agent that is still of some value - Lynch , Gaff , Lycett , Menzel , Liberatore , Luke Dahlhaus and Mitch Wallis - guys like this would strength our list and give some need leadership and experience compared to our senior guys like Weller , Gilbert , Armitage.trout? is that you?
Kelly is worth much more than Cerra. Cerra is promising but Kelly looks like he could give the Brownlow a shake in a few years. He's probably the best first year player since the Bont even if he is older.

That cant be good for youIf you don't have players who can run both ways then we are pretty much farting in a hurricane...
Personally I would put my money on Cerra winning a brownlow over Kelly doing the same.
Sure Kelly had a great first season but there are plenty of 24 year olds averaging 20 touches a game.
Remember the main knock on Cerra was injury issues in his draft year. He has played 19 games this year so that doesn't seem like much of an issue now. He looks similar to Taranto and I would not be surprised if he has a breakout year next year.
Would you trade Hunter Clark for Tim Kelly? I certainly wouldn't.

I feel a little ill saying this, but I'd trade McCartin and Acres for Cerra.
Freo gets: Kelly and Acres
Gives: Cerra
Geelong: McCartin, 15-25 pick
Gives: Kelly,
St Kilda: Cerra
Gives: McCartin and Acres, 15-25 pick (either PP of from both rucks being traded)
Geelong is the tough one to please here which would mean we are paying overs to shake Cerra free.
Go to the draft with pick 4 and happily grab King who automatically upgrades Paddy.
So assuming a bunch of recently suggested trades/FAs took place.
Saints in:
Hanners, Lycett, Menzel, Cerra, pick 4 (King, Walsh or Smith).
Saints out:
Acres, McCartin, Longer, Hickey.
Ok with this.On a side issue - whilst it is not exactly headline news to St Kilda fans, i am well informed that Longer has already been advised his contract is not to be renewed and he will be up for trade at season's end. Again, not earth shattering stuff, but takes away any of the conjecture on here.
Makes sense.
People were asking about why put Wright in for season ending surgery to get him right for pre-season when he is likely to be traded/delisted. And i guess you could ask the same about Longer.
Personally, i tend to look at it like the club is setting them up for life after football. Both Longer/Wright probably look unlikely to get afl contracts next year so getting there bodies right (i guess getting any surgery that needs to be done) while they are at a club which both pays for it and will be there to help with the rehab seems like a pretty good idea. Also doubt eithers value changes much if they don't play so having it done might put them in a better position as they would be closer to starting pre-season with a clean bill of health.

The reason he plays so well is because the opposition focus more in those stars you just mention. For all the disposals they get, that midfield of Dangerfield, Ablett, Selwood, Kelly, Duncan & Guthrie are looking down the barrel of missing the finalsYes and would drive him there myself. I don't know how much of Geelong you have watched this year but he's been unbelievable. He had 36 possessions against Richmond a couple of weeks ago and he's playing mid and resting up front to allow Ablett, Danger and Selwood midfield time. I literally would swap what ever player that asked for for him....maybe even Gresham if he was keen to stay in Vic.
At the same stage of their careers id think Cerra would be miles in front , i really like Blake but just wonder if he is going to be a tease and never really get the best out of himselfWhy would you give Acres and Paddy. Acres is probably overs to me but if both players wanted home you'd do it. Cerra's a promising high pick but Acres is ready to go and a much more definite output. Paddy is better off developing at Sandy that just tossing him out as steak knives.
