Prediction 2018 trade hypothetical thread

We perhaps could do the trade with a future R2 or something like that

Kelly and 2019 R2 for p8 ... That would put Kelly trade as around 967 ish depending on where we finish... basically something around around P18
My completely uneducated opinion is Kelly is definitely worth more than the pick he was drafted at, regardless of the strength of the draft.

Even if a team drafts a gun mid at pick 1, they are unlikely to get the equivalent output from that kid, as what Kelly has produced so far this year.

If Kelly wants to go to either W.A. club, I'd wait to see which play/players playing in W.A. want to head home to Victoria, and see if there could be a player swap with late picks going back one way or the other.

Pick 1 for Wines, pick 10ish and a third rounder?

Port would pay a premium for lukoscious, same with the crows I would suspect.

I couldn't see Port doing that whether they rate Lukoscious or not. They've brought in that trio last off-season to compete now and would be a complete back-flip in strategy.

I get the feeling if this Moore to Sydney trade has any legs, there has to be a third club involved somehow. Pies would probably want a high pick and or equivalent player. Swans won't want to trade their R1 pick because of Blakey. I personally don't want to trade Moore, but I can see it getting messy.

He's 28 so got a good 3-4 years left while you are in your flag window, I think he would be a really good player in a good side, he has been loyal to the Lions for very little on field reward, I would not begrudge him having a crack at success, a bit like Rocky.

What about your current first selection this year ie currently pick 22? What do you think he is worth?
Yeah, a pick around 22 to 25 would be good. More likely to end up with a late second.
Similar value to Matt Rosa when he left WC.

Cerra is the obvious one ... but any player wanting a move with probably also want to pick destination.. My #1 preference is he stays ... and if he goes its should be something that makes it to our advantage to trade a contracted player

What about the out of contract West Coast players?

I know we have this argument a lot ;)

No one is taking Rich, he's on a lot of coin - we have to be spending it on someone, even if a team was interested theyd likely baulk at the price. so if he were to leave wed have to pay some of his salary. For a pick in the 30s?? Not worth it, were better of keeping him if he doesnt improve (which i argue he will) as the team improves then he wont be the first highly paid player to see out their career in the 2s.

With Preuss rated highly what would it take for north to part with Goldstein? Pick 20?
This is a man with some footy smarts, goldy is the man to go for if your pushing for a cup. I personally don’t wanna give him up and if we did I don’t know what he would be worth have to wait out he season see how he goes.

FYI - Essendon hold GWS' 2nd rounder.

fogarty was rated around #1 this time last year.
clubs passed b/c they were worried he'd seek a move home. slid to 10. they may take their chances rather than giving up Wines.
1 for Wines and a 3rd rd pick may work.

I think you're overrating wines just a tad and underrating lukoscious a lot.
Just about the most clear cut number 1 in recent history, think nick riewoldt clone.
Wines is a great player no doubt, but he's not a clear cut superstar.

If I was SOS it would be wines and pick 10 as a starting point.

What would be the trade Value of Majak Daw & Mason wood

Would North consider a 3rd rounder for Mason Wood

Will be 25 in a couple of months and injury riddled 3rd tall that might struggle to get a game with Brown,McKay,Waite looking like playing another 3 years and all the new players wanting to come to north.

North need the later picks for matching their father sons and academy picks would pick #45-#50 be about right od am i over valuing his worth

A kid who is yet to play AFL vs a confirmed gun who is yet to turn 25 and is your vice captain.

the last clear cut #1 was Tom Boyd.
Would you hand over Cripps, Pick 10 and change for an 18yo Boyd?

Sydney will want to trade their R1 as they can use later picks to match a Blakey bid.

Wood is worth a pick in the 20's.

Why ? Whats he done to be worth a pick in the 20's
He will be 25 years old in 3 months and only played 30 odd games and kicked 41 goals

Would you as an Essendon supporter give up a pick in the 20's for Wood ?
Mate he is worth what another team will give. If wood is in the 30s Bolton is in the 70s ahaha your a hack poster go troll somewhere else

But why is he worth the 30's pick ?
As i stated he has been in the AFL system now for nearly 8 years for only 30 games thats less than 5-6 games a year and as a foward only averaging 1 goal a game.

Just to give you an example last year Daniel Menzel was a free agent and not 1 club was interested in giving him an offer better than Geelongs 1 year deal on low coin.

Menzel
26 yo
65 games
13 disposal average
4 marks
1.9 goals a game

Wood
24 yo
31 games
13 disposals average
4 marks
1.3 goals a game

Nobody would even take him as a free agent and he averages more goals a game and even with 4 knee's injuries averages more games than Wood

So why would a team give up a pick in the 20's when a better version nobody touched for free ?
