So we give you 5 and 6 for one? And 5 has a year under his belt and looks good? Vomit

As much as Lukosius is a great fit for us, he actually isn’t - right now at least.
We have bigger issues than a key forward. - I never thought I’d say that, this year at least.
Taberner and Cox have been so impressive with their development this year, I’d back them in next year.
Hogan is on the cards next year, it’s happening.
This year - go to the draft and/or get the players Ross speaks of, fast multi position players with good skills an we improve out of site in two years.
Rankine, Rozee, Walsh, Foley, IHill, Thomas any of those types..... that’s my hope.

Lions fans out there, would you be prepared to do the following trade:

Ross + 2019 1st round pick for Beams + pick 5
No.

Counter offer.

Jack Steven and Saints 2019 first round pick for Lions 2018 first round pick straight up. No Lions player included.

And, out of curiosity, who are you (Saints fans) looking at with picks 4 & 5?

There's a strong chance that saints will be bottom 3 next year, especially if we lost Steven so would put in a counter offer. Add your pick 21 + Stef Martin to your offer.

As a saints fan, it's clear we need top quality through the midfield, both inside and out. With 4&5, I'd like to go for Rankine and Smith. Would be great if Walsh slid but looks unlikely.

Is this the SOS that caved last year and traded us Gibbs for pick ten, and having to move his 2018 pick into the shit 2017 draft?

SOS can slam his laptop shut as much as he likes, the entire league thinks he's ludicrous.

man, you crows supporters need to get your stories straight... half of you are claiming MM is worth 2 firsts, because the precedent was set with Gibbs being traded for 2 firsts... the other half are claiming SOS traded Gibbs for one 1st, and the crows won the trade... seems to be a lot of confusion.

Here's something you shouldn't be confused about, Pick 1 will play no part in getting MM to Carlton.

The Gibbs trade effectively ends up around #12 Value
Carlton In : #10 + #16 + #73
Adelaide In : #23 Carlton 2nd 2018 (approx) #42 Carltons 3rd (approx) +#77 (2017) + Gibbs

Not quite right.

We got the two first rounders from them last year (10 and 16) and essentially downgraded our 2nd this year for theirs which will probably be 19 to 25. They thought that was going to be a far bigger upgrade given they expected to go deep in finals this year but not to be. The other late pick swaps were whatever.

I am extremely happy with this trade and one only needs to visit the Adelaide board to see what the majority think over there when they aren't posturing like they 'won' on this board and SOS 'bent over':rolleyes:

Your player value/judgement is as overrated as your players.
Should concentrate on retaining players instead of trading in and out at unrealistic value.
At the end of the day you drafted him at 43 and if you get a pick in the teens for player who doesn’t want to be there you should be satisfied.
Take a pick in the teens, bundle them up and get the SA boys you can, but be realistic.
No, we'll keep McGovern for the next two years instead. Considering we contracted him for 3 years, he's already retained! Thanks though!

Ok, thanks. We look forward to McGovern being a big part of our premiership push next year!

None of us are posturing about that trade.

We just like to point out when Carlton posters say they got two firsts for Gibbs, that actually they moved one pick from an inferior draft to another pick in a better one. We would have done that trade independent of Bryce Gibbs.

In this draft, pick 1 is worth way more than pick 4. Probably picks 4 and 14 would get it done, maybe even more

No it isn’t. Every chance the Kings, Rankine or Walsh will be the best in the draft. Lukosious looks as good as any kid in recent memory but it doesn’t guarantee anything long term.

Swap it around.

Would you do 4 and Dow for pick 1?

(Best comparison I can do, obviously Gresham is a far better player right now - but should prove my point it's a ridiculous trade hypothetical).

"Caved", yeah caved, meaning he did the honourable thing and cared more about the player than the club as a business.

Plenty of Adelaide posters are posturing about that trade, including yourself. Gibbs is a high output player, but the price paid was high and clearly only agreed upon because it was acceptable for us.

We did get two firsts for Gibbs. As part of that trade, we also took an ~6 spot downgrade in this years second round. Reid and Adelaide clearly thought that was more likely to be a bigger upgrade, as did most. We're thrilled because on our end, the downgrade is as good as we could have imagined after trading with a grand finalist and we were able to turn 16 into Kennedy and another second round pick; another win for us.

I have no idea what you mean about doing the deal independent of Gibbs as that does not make any sense.

We did 10 for Gibbs.

16 in 2017 for 19 in 2018 - a trade we'd still do.

Our 2018 second for your 2018 third. Our mistake was we thought it'd be like the previous swap, and would just mean sliding down three or four picks. We didn't anticipate the injuries, and that a few unexpected losses would take us from fifteen wins and top four to 12 wins and 12th.

Carlton: 10, 16 & 73(2017), 25 (2018)
Adelaide: Gibbs, 77 (2017), 19 (2018)

That is the entire deal

Would take Lukosius in a heartbeat so we could **** off Mccarthy. Deadset gun

This is true ......top 5 players are all relatively equal .....could be top 6 as I highly value Bayley Smith

IMO the ???? on Lukosius is his contested marking

Crows also got Blues 2018 3rd rounder- pick 37. So going by AFL draft value points. Carlton 3227 points - Adelaide 1431 points = 1796 points = Pick 6.

Crows can argue picks are worth more this year. Pick 6 is worth Pick 20 and 21 going on points value. So Crows can say they gave up 2 2nd rounders. In reality they didn't give up an actual pick 6. I think both sets of supporters would say they got a fair deal.
