Hazlewood has been quite good, too, just not quite as threatening as Cummins.
Even if that scenario eventuates, it still won't validate the decision to bowl first.I do understand picking Siddle somewhat. He generally would have 20 overs 1 for 35 and England would have to force the pace. Bowling first is a head scratcher though. To bowl first you need to dismiss the other side for under 250 and then make 400 yourself. Looking seriously unlikely now
Haven't seen Lyon bowl so poorly for years - if the finger is no good , don't play.

Yeah England in Australia type fieldingAt fine leg...having not to move one step...
get the picture...
Paine trying to be a hero making a risky call hoping for a fairytale perhaps? You never bowl first in these conditions seems a dumb call alright. No idea.
I would think we are the WORST or close to it chasing sides too, makes no sense. Love to know Paine's reasoning and it better be good because to me he's thrown away the chance to bat England into submission on a road.

Bairstow would have appeal....just saying.Another one where Paine appeals like it's a surefire dismissal then doesn't review it.
Makes him look like an even bigger goose.
Paine’s robbed Smith of a triple century bowling first

Bairstow doesn’t have to wrongly appeal to look like a goose ...just sayingBairstow would have appeal....just saying.
When was the last drawn Ashes series?
And has any side won an Ashes series with only 2 guys averaging above 30? Doubt it.
Do people actually, genuinely believe what to do at the toss is completely on the captains whim?
