yea a few times i was hoping they would pass to someone in a better scoring position, but they just went the long kick or long bomb at goal.

Ironic in the sense that recruiters are watching how they play as individuals and as part of a team.
It isn't the player's with the most disposals, it's the player that contributes in multiple ways.

Yes.
Seemed to find his groove, and played very tough for his size.
His speed and smarts made him look like a good outside mid, half back orsmall fwd.
Was all over the ground in the third.
Impressed.
I think they lost Ace also, so down a rotation of a like player.

Delahunty was going to be in first game anyway.
But Ellam does provide a big target

My only issue is that the Vic stars keep pulling out of these matches so the Allie
Kids never play against them and can’t improve. The Qld kids for example haven’t played against the likes of Anderson and Rowell since under 12s

I don’t disagree.

I’d like to see a genuine National U18 competition. But you would have to change the rules to eliminate the private schools from the equation.

But that’s denying a heap of kids getting scholarship and the chance at a better education.

Do the Northern states play any of the southern states at U16 level?

Some of our kids would have played last year as bottom agers and come up against Rowell at last years National Championships.

It’s not that they pull out more that clubs request they play school football first and foremost unless it’s the proper champs and not trials because that’s what they are in the end.

Last year Qld played Vic country only minus their stars . This is one of the reasons why qld produces so few quality mids as they never get the early high class competition. This year the academy teams should have played the good Vic Teams in the first two rounds before the mass college exodus # note as the lone underage rep Budarick May have played against Rowell last year

As a Sandy man happy to see so many named.in the state game . my favorite two are

Butler. Off hb a great size. Racks up good numbers. Will bolt up draft boards.
Bell..great 2nd efforts and can kick a goal.. saw him chase down a winger few weeks ago..

How watts got named but I'll never know!!

I think they stay as a squad of 50. That's what is up on the AFL website.
Then announce teams the Monday before the Nat games.
I guess that allows them to make changes if there are injuries.
