Is it the rules or is it the rubbish footballers out there.

This is what happens when you draft marathon runners instead of footballers. That tonight was absolute garbage. Inability to handle the ball, hit a 2 meter handball, a 10 meter kick, playing on and giving it off to players who are in trouble before they've even received it.

This purely comes down to grass roots and what recruiters are looking for. Even watching the pre draft videos of the top draft picks, they are all impressive finding the ball and bursting out of a pack but no one ever focuses on the kick going straight down the throat of the opposition. There are talented actual footballers out there who can't get a sniff because they can't hit 15 in the beep test. Stuff running, I just want to see players hit a fckkn target! They can't even hit the bowl with their piss. It's getting ridiculous now.

The ANZAC Day game always poses a quandary. Both are despicable teams. Who to follow on the day?

If anything the Doper hubris has me looking for a win from the Filth. The upside is one VFL team will lose.

Off-field issues Richmond just have them move in with Hardwick

Not sure if anyone noticed, but apparently Stack was passed over in the national draft and also in the rookie draft. He had off field issues. Apparently. I only know this because it may have been mentioned about 4 times during the game against us and another 6 times list night. Could this be the new 'basketball background'?

I know nobody watches NASCAR here but even the AFL has made more rule changes than them in recent years! And that is saying something!

I hold Bartlett entirely responsible for the annual spate of rule changes. Yes I know he was not directly involved in the last tranche of changes.

Beyond the centre square change and into of interchange, the rules of the game were stable for a long time.

Bartlett led the Cheerleaders for change.

He never got over his bitterness at the VFL changing the holding the man/dropping the ball rule. Previously if the guy in possession bounced the ball as he was about to be tackled, he'd get a free. Bartlett completely rorted the rule and he never got over the rule being changed.

Don't think I have the energy for this match today. Can't stand either teams.

IMO Essendon should have been stripped of some of their primetime matches like the ANZAC day game and Dreamtime at the G. They bring the game into disrepute so the AFL puts them on a pedestal in two showcase matches.

I think West Coast should be involved in a Dreamtime match as one of the great clubs for indigenous representation in the competition (about all they're good for.)
