So what you are saying is that we are lucky that there was no drug testing back in the day?

I must say I didn’t think Jack Cahill was the type to tolerate druggies.
Oops. Not the best way to describe their coolness under pressure! However, didn’t Roger have a ciggie or two during the half time break?

Found my spreadsheet of flag winners for 1977-98 years to go with one I had made for 1951-65 years. Highlighted in yellow are those who are now in HoF.

Next year and in coming years I think the next players from the 1950's 60's period to get inducted will probably be as I said back on page 1, Marx Kretschmer 6 flags in the 1950's, Peter Obst won 6 in the 50's an 60's isn't in and Trevor Bubbles Obst won 4 flags and a Magarey Medal .

Also on page 1 I forgot that George had won 7 **** but did say I think all the 7, 8, and 9 time flag winners are in but if I'm wrong about 7 time flag winners, then they will get in next. So looks like Roger Delaney might be next one in from the 1977-99 flag winners. Russell Ebert and Craig Bradley are the only players from that era who are in but haven't won at least 4 flags. Russell Johnston has won 3 and was 1st ruck in the team of the century so I reckon he will be close to the next one in from this period and it will be a toss up between him and Delaney.

Edit other players who won 4 flags ie before Fos Williams got to Ports

was captain coach of 1921 flag side and non playing coach of 1928,36 and 37 side for 7 flags all up
Harold Oliver 4 - 1910,13,14 and 21 plus Champs of Australia 3 - 1910,13,14

What stands out for me on your tables REH is that Russell Ebert is the greatest player in the history of the club but has about 50 players who have won more premierships than him

Timing.

He played in losing GF's in 1968, 71, 72, 76, 84 and went to play for North Melbourne in 1979. I think only John Cahill has played in more losing GF's 6 for Port after WW II. John won 4 flags.

Edit
Jack is 21 GF's 4 14 Flags as player and coach. Barassi was 17-4-10. Fos was also 17-4-10 when he includes his 1947 flag for Westies.

I reluctantly voted for George in the board election a couple of months ago. We need change and I was voting for the same same. Wanga's I saw as too much of a yes man to start his time on the board when we need robust debate and Thompson had too many gaps in his CV for me to feel comfortable with him. I knew George had clashed with Koch. His speech made me feel a lot better about my vote for him.
