Great post until the highlighted. As has been said, the tonsillitis was hardly mentioned and people have jumped on board a single post as if it was a reliable post. Note the poster is a beauty, but that post wasn't, nor is your last point.
To paraphrase the immortal King Verity Farseer
You take things too seriously, Vdubs.

Sounds like they are willing to take an extra year. Good. If they gave cowan 5 years then cockatoo should be allowed to say on the list to he is 45.
I don't believe it's good practice to follow bad precedents. The club was committed to seeing a lot of players through injury - Cowan, Menzel, Vardy, McCarthy, Simpson. What was the end result? None of them cam good and consistently played well for the club. Menzel was okay for a couple of years but is now performing a familiar act of not playing due to injury at the Swans. For all the years on the Cats' list, McCarthy and Vardy have become strong contributors for other teams. Cowan was a complete head-scratcher.

Cockatoo is another like Menzel. Heaps of talent and at one point a real prospect, but that's no good if you're never out there or if that original potential has been cut down by repeat injuries.

That is unbelievable. Was Vdubs in charge of contracts?
If Vdubs was in charge of contracts Parson's would expire in 2028 and he'd be our highest paid player.

The quicker he's off the list the better.

I agree with this one.

All those years of carrying injury prone players has an opportunity cost. Not only have most of them had short injury interrupted careers, where they never quite reach their potential, but we miss out on developing someone else. We might be missing McCarthy playing some good football at the moment, but clearing the roster spot made room for Atkins and if we did it when we first realised Lincoln was injury prone, it could have been 2-3 more players we look at. The same goes with Scooter, Cohan, Menzel, Cockatoo, and now Cunico. We'd be better off letting them go when it first becomes apparent they are injury prone, or trading them off (where there is value) and bringing in late draft mature age recruits. Harsh but there's no pre-ordained right to a footy career. If their bodies aren't coping let them go.

How did you miss parsons?

Given 3 years in 2017 til end 2020. Doesnt really matter. Point is i doubt we will delist him while contracted and I doubt anyone will want him in a trade

Currently not injured, fit, healthy, keen, and available to improve. I have not lost faith in him. Good size for a modern player.

My issue is he doesnt apply enough pressure as a fwd compared to Atkins Rohan Fogarty etc and he doesnt have the same tricks around goal that Miers does.

With Cunico gone for a while (and maybe for good) and TK possibly leaving maybe he can try and reinvent himself as a specialist winger but outside of that I see him as too far back in the queue for spots.

Nobody would disagree, with hindsight. In reality though, the club is making the call at the time with players of immense talent giving signs they are ready to play and then being struck down again. It’s hard to pinpoint a point in time with Menzel, McCarthy and Gregson when the wrong call was made on them. Cowan I just never saw the talent and is a different case.

He’s Jordan Murdoch mark II Vdubs. We will look back in a few years and wonder why the club wasted 70 games on him.

70?
That'd be generous- 4 games in 2019, nil so far. Think he's only on 26 games so far.
I liked Murdoch- Parsons is a very different player.
Jordan more flash, Parsons has a real footy brain.

Murdoch was great yesterday btw. Could have used that skill and run v Whitfield. His tackling had improved last year anyway. We were quick to release him imo. Always said that, not just after yesterday.

Murdoch made it to 100 at Geelong. I’m concerned we will waste the same on Parsons. They both lack footy brains and make the same kind of mistakes. Athletes thrust into football.

Parsons is a smart footballer with a confidence crisis.
Murdoch is a better performer so far.
I was saying similar things about Mitch Brown, and he is playing well enough to pose problems for Joe Daniher's return.

Fogarty was listed as '1-2 weeks' a month ago and is now out to 2-3 weeks away. Just as well he hasn't had a setback...

And Nakia's adductor/hamstring issues have thankfully cleared up. Seemingly by referring the injury issue back to his knee...

All in all, it genuinely doesn't seem fair that the website can't automatically cue the Benny Hill theme music every time you open our weekly injury 'report'.

Yeah, but by jingo, it confuses the hell out of our opponents and throws their forward planning into utter disarray.
