We have all signed on to a forum to partake in discussing such things. If anything I beleive social media has held journalists more accountable.Spot on thy and therein lies some of the problems, dissemination of misinformation, call them rumors, grievances and plain old gossip are inflammatory, complicate matters enormously.
Has anyone seen/heard anything that suggests where Martin and Newnes might be lining up next year? Has Teague said anything in his pressers about where he sees them fitting in? Probably stating the obvious but where these two guys slot in will have a fair impact on the shape of our 22. Feels a bit like sloppy journalism (is there any other type?) to just categorise Martin as a forward as he played all over the place at the GC .... Newnes is another interesting one as he played his best footy a couple of years ago at wing and half-back but spent the last 12 months forward.
Newnes is a winger and Maritn can Play anywhere if need be best positioned as a Half forward with bursts in the gutsHas anyone seen/heard anything that suggests where Martin and Newnes might be lining up next year? Martin's welcome interview vid had him suggesting he thought he'd be playing forward (deep, half forward, not sure?).
Newnes is a winger, plain and simple. Can do other stuff in a pinch, but we've got better options forward and back.

I agree generally with what you’re saying here. Even if its sometimes hard to find the right balance; ie a player’s best position is not always so black and white. Sometimes playing someone out of position leads to realisation that she/he has been played out of best position e.g Jones.Hopefully we have learnt our lesson from playing Gibbons out off position. Newnes of 3 years ago will contribute plenty to our structure. So I hope we play him wing/half back. Which gives us plenty of options for half back.

out of the above, I would love to give Simmo a go on the HFF

I don't think you play all of Curnow, McKay, McGovern, Silvagni & Kennedy up forward. It's going to make for some challenging selections if all fit.
Locking Martin into our forward 6 - probably means that Eddie comes in at the expense of Fish or Cunners (and that's not even considering Kennedy or JSOS as playing the third/fourth utility marking forward option). Interesting times. McKay, Curnow, Gov, Martin, Betts, '?' ..... lack of pace and tackling pressure worries me a little.
It's a great problem to have, plenty of depth. we probably go with three talls and three smalls. Martin has plenty of pace and he loves a tackle and Eddie will have a turbo charged mobility scooter out there. Will be interesting who the third small will be, maybe we use the run of O'brien and Newnes from the wing in the forward and backline. I for one can't wait until they bounce the ball in round one. It's going to make for some challenging selections if all fit.

Fairly confident SPS won't spend the entire year on a HBF
