He also said that he's had 0 success hit rate over the last 2 years with 7 midpricers
Dunno if I'd agree with that though. I had Christensen and JOM, and it served me pretty well. I think you can have 3 or 4, but I think it starts getting speculative after that. I also think fallen premos are a bit different to mid-pricers -

Zac Williams - Midpricer (never been a premo)
Brad Crouch - Fallen premo
Dan Hanneberry - Fallen premo
Brodie Smith - Midpricer (never been a premo)
Anthony Miles - Midpricer (never been a premo)

Also, he had Clayton Oliver, not last year but the year before. Selby said that was one of the reasons for his strong start -picking the 'breakout' player. Oliver had his breakout year and was definitely a mid-pricer, so I think he's underselling it a bit.

It shows there is hope for us all. I'm pretty sure he stormed home and didn't start that great, I could be wrong though a lot of beer has been consumed since then
yeah, think he said he was 15-20k rank after 1st game

I think he's very good at identifying those breakout players and maybe having those midpricers gave flexibility to trade up/down and fix things without having to dick around sideways trading and downgrading premos.

Let me hear it!

Very, very similar to my side including rooks like Petrucelle F6 as I think he's a fair chance at a forward spot whilst Jamie Cripps is injured, then some chance at LeCras spot if he shows enough.

I downgraded Merrett to Bont (and with my slightly cheaper R2) that allowed me to upgrade Hannebery to Taranto.

As with everyone, side will change plenty.
Decent pre season games from Hanners (fallen premium) or some other mid pricers and they jump back in to calculation.

Starting to like my side. My backline is fairly risky but i think they all represent value. Birchall can easily be traded to a rookie if necessary.
Midfield is a combination of genuine guns and could be guns. My heart is not completely set on Hanners or B.Crouch but until we get more of an idea about potential rookies ill leave them there. Miles is being strongly considered. Rucks are set and forget. My forwardline changes almost daily but i think ive found a combination im happy with. Hoping that both Gray and Wingard see more midfield time with their changing circumstances. I like Heeney and Dev Smith but i think ill have to settle for them being upgrade targets. I usually like picking a couple PODs but there aren't many that i have confidence in so my team is fairly vanilla.

Thoughts?

The only real difference between my team and yours comes down to
Hanley (80) & r gray (95) = 175
Vs
j. Lloyd (105) vs fwd rookie (65) = 170

Hanley is obviously quite the injury risk tho. I do like your team tho, could do very well i think.

For me, as said in other thread, planning to build up from locks and add over the course of the pre-season.

Current locks are 2 in each line currently.

D: Witherden (D2), ZWilliams (D4)
M: Zerrett (M1), BCrouch (M5)
R: Grundy (R1), Xerri (R4)
F: Dangerfield (F1), Setterfield (F4/5)

Aim is to keep a very open mind!

Steady steady

D: Laird (D1), Witherden (D2), ZWilliams (D4)
M: Zerrett (M1), T.Adams (M4), Dusty (M5) (Brad Crouch out for the moment until more news back).
R: Grundy (R1), Xerri (R4)
F: Dangerfield (F1), Setterfield (F4/5)

Overall i like it. Youve gone afew more mid pricers than myself but they seem pretty safe. Really like the adams pick!

I so wish there were like 2 more mid spots. Would love to add M Crouch and Adams

Slowly moulding to what I like:

Only question marks really on Macrae, Steele, English, Smith and Heeney.

Would like to work Redden/Gawn/Williams into the team.

Heres my latest tinker job. Whatcha think? Leaves me exactly a whopping zero cap to work with! haha! But i do have 4 downgradable rookies in there if i need wiggle room at all. Also definitely no mid price madness here

Different, I like it. Interesting when it works out to zero cap left. It's like a complete jigsaw puzzle.

I'd be worried coming up against that side head to head in the early rounds so it must be ok.
Despite not having the big 2 in Macrae and Grundy, you've done well with the spare money even though I have my concerns (or scars) with the Martin pick and would think maybe Bontompelli $3k cheaper could be an option.

I think I'm comfortable running with two 170k'ers in my midfield. There's a handful that will be getting games frequently early

Do you envisage all those forwards playing in round 1? And if you do, how do you see them scoring? Could be a bit of carnage early on for you if you run that thin with only the 2 premos

I dunno, i see them scoring like average rookies i guess? This is all a "watch and see" thing. I have wiggle room to adjust a bit if i need to. Points are points, no matter what position you get them from, so i dont care if its a ton from my mids and not much from forwards or vice versa. I just tried to get as many rollers as I wanted and cram some bargains in there with them. Thats a very good point though, which i had in mind

This is true, however, forward rookies can be known to score very poorly and erratically at times and can greatly affect your score in any given week. Just food for thought if you do decide to go in with that team

Ehh, all forwards score erratically haha. Oddly enough, i have been eyeballing a forward that no one is adding and no one is talking about, my friend :)

Jack Darling?
Starting zones should help forwards get a few more marks. Less congestion.

For the people on Hanners; why? It's been a very long time since he's been good and he's joining a midfield where Ross & Steven will get the ball more. How quickly will you move on from him in JLT or are you confident in him getting back near his best?

I ask as downgrading Crouch to him saves me $90k which i could really use in defense but no way am i confident in 2019 Hanners
