For the people on Hanners; why? It's been a very long time since he's been good and he's joining a midfield where Ross & Steven will get the ball more. How quickly will you move on from him in JLT or are you confident in him getting back near his best?

I ask as downgrading Crouch to him saves me $90k which i could really use in defense but no way am i confident in 2019 Hanners
Not confident either (not in a 105avg kinda way)
but I think he's priced at 67 or something so it's worth the gamble. I downgraded Devon Smith to McLean so I could get a better mid than Hanners.
Bontompelli & Taranto were the last mids I brought in as I had to strengthen my midfield a bit.

It's more of a case of backing him in to go 20 above what he's priced at (58 up to 78), generating that cash for 5-6 weeks and pivoting to a premo from there. At least it is for me

Back into it for another year.

Currently rolling with;

Lloyd, Whitfield, Witho, Williams, Collins, Logue (Burgess, Scrimshaw)

Cripps, Brayshaw, MCrouch, Zerrett, Dusty, Walsh, Hind, Bewley (Hayes, Constable)

Grundy, English (Fort, Sweet)

Danger, Dunkley, Heeney (place holder for Wingard), Setterfield, Cavarra, Petruccelle (Lewis, Corbett)

Think this is a great team. Technically you have 12 keepers to start the season with and you know you're doing well (and are not too mid price heavy) when you have that number. Also think most of those rookies are well placed for round 1 berths at least at this point in the pre season

Thanks mate.
Have aimed to go set and forget with a guns and rooks strategy this year.

Love the Brayshaw pick. First team (besides myself) that I've seen with him in it.

All in all, a nice balanced side. Very similar to what I have right now, haha

What are both your thoughts on Brayshaw copping a bit more attention this year after finishing the year with a bang and polling so well? Corby_4

I think between him and Oliver, it's a bit like a Dangerfield/Selwood sort of situation. Yeah he might cop a tag here and there, but so will Oliver. Also gotta worry about Viney when he gets back too. Melbourne's midfield is pretty stacked - Jones, Petracca, Brayshaw, Oliver, Viney, Salem, Harmes, Vandenberg etc. Means that teams can't afford to pay too much attention without letting another one off the chain, i.e. Oliver. Considering they finished with 105 and 109 for Bray and Oliver respectively, it doesn't seem as if that should change too much this year.

Tend to agree. We know Oliver can handle it but will be very interesting to see if Brayshaw can handle a tight tag

Shouldn't have to worry about it 'til Round 4 anyway.

Port, Geelong, Essendon, then Sydney and George Hewett. Then followed by St Kilda, Richmond, Hawthorn, Gold Coast and then West Coast (Hutchings), GWS, Adelaide and Collingwood, up until the Round 13 Bye. Steele might, as might Touk, but all in all, a pretty damn good run even if he was getting tagged every game.

This is part of the reason why I want one of the Dees boys in the middle. Seems like a great run whoever you choose (currently have Brayshaw but has changed to and from Oliver multiple times). Trying to be a bit more strategic in regards to strength of fixtures this year than I have been previously

This is fair enough. Definitely worth keeping an eye on through JLT; maybe I'm being too negative on him (?) but I just can't see him getting 17+ touches a game consistently any more. Looked cooked last year but fresh start may do him good

Yep rate it. Mine was very similar (still is) until i swapped out goldy for english and a rook to birchall. Did this because i am not sure on how the r2 will turn out and think english has enough upside to run until this becomes clear, and not sold on def rooks at this stage.

Laird, Lloyd, Witherden, Newman, Birchall, Collins (Logue, Hore)
Macrae, Coniglio, Cripps, Merrett, Walsh, Hately, Atkins, Bewley (Constable, Hind)
Grundy, English (Fort, Cameron)
Dangerfield, Dunkley, Wingard, Setterfield, Cavarra, Corbett (Mcadam, Parker)

currently sitting on this mob.

Lloyd, Sicily, Milera, Z Williams, Williamson, Collins (Hore, McInerney)
Cripps, Oliver, M Crouch, Z Merrett, B Crouch, Walsh, Bennell, Bewley (Hind, Atkins)
Grundy, English (Fort, Flynn)
Danger, Dunkely, T Kelly, Lukosius, Rozee, Setterfield (Cavarra, Parker)

4th attempt, and most balanced my team has felt since starting. Boak/Gray/Wingard/Kelly all possibilities for Boak's position. Miles or even Jack Bowes a possibility for Crouch's position if Crouch doesn't show enough. Going to try and leave this alone for a little while, as it's the first time I've felt completely satisfied since starting this year, haha.

10 Premos
2 Fallen Premos
4 Mid-Pricers
6 Rooks

Personally, I'm not feeling Ross, Grundy, Goldstein or Smith as starters. They all just kinda feel full-pricey to me, which i don't like pre-season. But Grundy and Smith are definitely destinations. Macrae also feels a little full-pricey, but i think there's possible upside there so i wouldn't say dont use him. Keeping him or Grundy as your captain is perfectly fine (i would go Macrae). Personally, i am running Danger as mine and will play matchups until i upgrade to Macrae or Grundy (they will be my first upgrades). Unlike many teams, i think yours needs a couple MORE speculative picks

Ross Avg 115 in the second half of the season versus 101 in the 1st half, priced at 107, theres an argument he's five points under priced.
Goldstein Avg 105 in the second half of the season versus 84 in the 1st half, priced at 93, theres an argument he's almost ten points under priced.

Both are very good options in my mind.

As for Grundy, he'll be the top scorer in the game and a captain choice most week. If it was a midfielder averaging 120 he'd be a lock in most sides (as Macrae is).

Devon Smith, also had a good back end to the season, averaging 115 in his last 5 matches and 114 across the second half. While I don't think he is necessarily underpriced, his recent form does suggest he can still improve or at least hold his average. If you're selecting Devon it's because you know FOR A FACT he will be a top 6 forward. This season, the only players you can say that about for certain are Dangerfield and Smith so I can see people locking those in to solidify the forward line from round 1.

All four are very good picks in my eyes.

So far rolling with the below and have some $$'s spare for flexibility....

B: Lloyd, Witherden, Milera, Williams, Rozee, Logue....McKay, Nutting
M: Cripps, MCrouch, Zerret, Taranto, Hanners, Worpel, Walsh, Bewley....Hind, Hayes
R: Grundy, Goldy....Fort, Xerri
F: Heeney, Kelly, Gresham, Lukosius, Setterfield, Cavarra....Corbett, Burgess

I'm bullsih on Milera up back....think he will good as he plays through the midfield (or hopefully!). The three of Taranto, Hanners and Worpel will switch in and out but for now, I like all 3. I had Worpel earmarked before Titch's injury in any case - he will be in my team somewhere.
I'm also bullish on Gresham which could turn into Acres. I like both and barring injury I think Acres could be good for it this year but for now I like Gresh.

Just my opinion, but way too many midpricers who will more likely than not fail you

Back into it for another year.

Currently rolling with;

Lloyd, Whitfield, Witho, Williams, Collins, Logue (Burgess, Scrimshaw)

Cripps, Brayshaw, MCrouch, Zerrett, Dusty, Walsh, Hind, Bewley (Hayes, Constable)

Grundy, English (Fort, Sweet)

Danger, Dunkley, Heeney (place holder for Wingard), Setterfield, Cavarra, Petruccelle (Lewis, Corbett)

Very similar to my team. I suppose the question is do you go an extra premium in the midfield (say Dusty) or 2 mid-pricers in libba and hannebery? I've gone for the 2 mid pricers for insurance reasons. If libba and hannebery surprise then you may lose out a fair bit if you're relying on Hind or Bewley.

Having another look at things.......

fantasy19.2.1.GIF fantasy19.2.2.GIF

Reckon I'm getting closer to how I want the team to look.

Birchall, Libba and Setterfield are downgradeable if there a good rook options showing their wares after JLT or early rounds, cos I know there's not a great deal of wriggle room with all the basement rooks. But I do see those 3 ( IF FIT ) to have better JS and scoring potential, and maybe even cash gen than most rookies, plus they are all stepping stones which should allow upgrades earlier than relying on the rooks to gain in value until there are 2 to downgrade per upgrade.
