Having another look at things.......

Reckon I'm getting closer to how I want the team to look.

Birchall, Libba and Setterfield are downgradeable if there a good rook options showing their wares after JLT or early rounds, cos I know there's not a great deal of wriggle room with all the basement rooks. But I do see those 3 ( IF FIT ) to have better JS and scoring potential, and maybe even cash gen than most rookies, plus they are all stepping stones which should allow upgrades earlier than relying on the rooks to gain in value until there are 2 to downgrade per upgrade.

Everything looks good to me id have a fair few others over steele tho. Adams, redden, dusty & sloane would all be better options imo. All looks good tho! I like it.

Very similar to my team. I suppose the question is do you go an extra premium in the midfield (say Dusty) or 2 mid-pricers in libba and hannebery? I've gone for the 2 mid pricers for insurance reasons. If libba and hannebery surprise then you may lose out a fair bit if you're relying on Hind or Bewley.
Very reasonable point and definitely something to consider.

Steele is my 'breakout bet' Went large after the bye last year and I don't see his role changing.

Newman is another I'd like to have in but I can't find the space

Nice mate stick to your guns! Normally your intuition is right so hopefully it pays off. One of the best teams ive seen posted

Macrae
Coniglio
Cripps
Ross (Zerrett if fit)
M Crouch
B Crouch
Bewley
Hind

My midfield. Backing first 5 to be top 8...hopefully makes for some easy trading. Thoughts

I highly doubt brad crouch is top 5. Although risky with injury, i do think hes a good pick. Top 5 a big stretch id say

I dunno if Coniglio is worth starting though. Make him a destination, not a starting point. How about Fyfe instead? (if you can use the money) I think he's going to score like crazy. I was initially scared off by the surgery thing, but not anymore

He's saying Matt Crouch will be top 8 (and I agree)

Woops didnt see that. I cant see matt averaging anymore than his previous best (106) he averaged 32-33 disposals that year. Imo he sits just outside the top 10.

Version 2.0

If mills playes decent amounts of MID time in JLT he is my breakout star.

Really liking the look of my midfield. If you look at last year and take away their games where they had different roles or injuries youll find both cripps & brayshaw sat around the 113 avg mark. I expect this to be their avg this year.

In the FWD line tim kelly is sitting their atm. If he looks in good knick in the jlt i think he can push the 100 mark avg. If not billings, R. Gray & wingard all spring to mind as easy replacements. Even worpel could get a go but will have to watch him closely in jlt.

**goldstein is my othee ruck btw**

Be wary of Fyfe, just an FYI. No Neale and basically only Mundy and Brad Hill left as established mids, means that tag is coming for him every week. He scored pretty poorly last year when tagged, so that's what's keeping me away from him. At least Neale provided a bit of a buffer. He won't have that anymore. Can definitely score well on his day, but wouldn't see him as a top 8 mid or a consistent performer.

Doesn't have a great history with injury and suspension either. Will cop a battering without Neale in that midfield

Back into it for another year.

Currently rolling with;

Lloyd, Whitfield, Witho, Williams, Collins, Logue (Burgess, Scrimshaw)

Cripps, Brayshaw, MCrouch, Zerrett, Dusty, Walsh, Hind, Bewley (Hayes, Constable)

Grundy, English (Fort, Sweet)

Danger, Dunkley, Heeney (place holder for Wingard), Setterfield, Cavarra, Petruccelle (Lewis, Corbett)
Welcome back mate. Nice team! As an Eagles fan I'd keep watch on Petrucelle, a nice smokey but would want to watch very closely over JLT to see if any hints on if/how he will be played.

When he was 21, so I'm seeing some natural improvement let alone solid scores for the past 2 years

He averaged 33 disposals... i just cant see how he improves his avg. Unless he starts tackling more or taking marks but i cant see it personally. Dont think he can go 110+

Thanks mate, good to be back.
Cheers, keeping a very close eye on him throughout JLT with plenty of upside.

First team this year that I've thought, "no way that fits the salary cap" so you've done well with your mix.

Cheers, but I'm not sure I'll run with all 12 basement priced rooks, plus only 13k left in the kitty

how abut some mid-priced mayhem with 280k to spare?

Every year I say it'd be good to run a dummy side like this.
Chances are you don't get all right but it's the same with rookies and they're in & out of the side.

Most of your mid pricers could easily go 70-100 round 1 & the safer premium players 90-120 plus captain.
Burton is interesting. Took the most kick ins at Hawthorn last year, now at Port minus Pitrard & Polec in the back half of the ground.

Could add SPP, having a great pre season, Wines out for a bit.
