Kornes was saying this afternoon we have no small forwards and couldn't understand why we werent trading Orazio in. I've only just recovered from the head knock from falling off my chair in laughter.

He's most probably worried that Port will once again massively overspend to bring another player in for novelty value.

Personally it seems pointless to be bringing him in when Rozee has exploded on the scene playing in the same role.

My thoughts exactly. Not to mention Butters looks pretty decent. Spending a high pick on Fantasia is a luxury that neither club should be doing right now given our lists.

G

I'd take pick 2 for brouch fight now if we could, As he's only going to suffer in other pre-season soft tissue injury rendering him useless for another year. Get rid of every assistant coach and the entire administration while their at it, f.ckin bunch of cooked c.nts they are.
Hawthorn will give up their left nut for pick 2, or Anderson, the only reason that pick would be on the trade table is because it's one that Hawthorn will never relent on. No trade, if Brouch wants to go he can go next year and we'll get compo

Exactly, just like Lyons and Hendo who shouldn’t have even been on lists such was their value as decided by us. Amazing how other clubs get our outgoing player’s values so wrong.

That happens at every club. On a list of 40 odd players + turnover there is always going to be the occasional talented players who are undervalued, unloved or in horrible list situations. Impossible to avoid, especially considering there are parts of building a long term side which are subjective.

Lyons is a great example of this. He had no future at Adelaide outside of depth because he didn't offer any point of real difference compared to our other midfielders, despite being a solid midfielder himself. Now finds himself a cog in a good side. Does Adelaide miss him? Not at all, because again, he doesn't offer anything we don't have. Henderson was horribly undervalued, and similar to Mattner, I'm sure we regret it.

Luck is unfortunately a rather large player in people making it. Equally, we've benefited more from other clubs underrating their list then us underrating what we have.

Regardless to that point, paying 500k for a 27 year old intercepting defender is just bad list management in our situation. Firstly, intercept defender is a perfect development position as it is a very easy way to get your feet wet seeing it's a nice mixture of being unaccountable/easy ball, and showing you're capable of following a structure. Providing Talia remains fit, we can chuck anyone here and we'll get good performance out of them, because it is not a position that requires talent outside of being relatively ok at reading play, and a sprinkle of bravery. This is the position that made Rielly look competent after all. Second point, we're in a rebuild and need picks, which again necessitates the need to trade. Third point due to it being a position where structure makes the player, you want this one as cheap as possible otherwise it's just unnecessarily wasting the most valuable thing in this sport, cap space.

Keeping Keath would just be us overpaying unnecessary/replacable players again instead of learning our lesson.

Was Keath just about the $$$ like Greenwood? Or was he wanting to go anyway?

3 years seems no huge deal
For me the question is, is is still good for the next flag tilt, or would the pick that we get be better. I think the pick. Short term pain, long term gain.

Pick 4 and Brouch for 1 and 2?
Tell me who would you pick with pick 1 & 2. Obvious answer is Noah Anderson and Matt Rowell. And how long will they stay with us. I mean that would be great if we could keep them but right now I dont believe our club should feel confident about keeping them.

We don't need them to succeed. Gold Coast is an elephants graveyard for sports teams. They don't deserve it. Close them down and give Tasmania a team. At least they actually care about footy.
Yeah but that wont be good for the people of QLD. It means that every other week there will be no AFL up hear. Like it or not (and I refer to Port) you guys at least get a game every week.

Yes Yes yes it was and still is why we have started to implode as a club and unless they call Burton out as the greatest imposter of all time in all his roles at our club and make the decision to remove him etc then there is no changing direction and those who protecting him will suffer the sword when we Really hit bottom in all areas of our club.
Just shows what a hypocrite Burton is by not resigning and Roos attempt to cover him by placing Pyke under the bus.
Well said EC and we can only hope .
I think that what #Elite Crow has said may be on the money and I wont agrue with that but I dont agree with what you have said about Pike being thrown under the bus. I've said it many times alread, and that is I believe that Pike is a man of honour and decided that he would resign. He stated that it was his initiative to resign. In doing so he will forgo a huge payout (that certainly helps the club) but he may get something to relocate back to Perth. SO I cant agree that Pike was thrown under the bus. I actually believe that the club had every intension to keep Pike and get him to manage the club through the shit that lays ahead.

Agreed. Not thrown under the bus, but certainly will be used to maintain the status quo otherwise.

Option 1:
Trade pick 1 for 3 and 7
Trade pick 2 for 5 and 8

Option 2:
Keep pick 1.
Trade pick 2 for 5 and 8.

Would likely go option 2.

My thoughts are

12 months ago Pyke believed the camp had bwwn dealt with intefnally and the playing group was ready to move forward headung into another pre-season.

Fast forward another 12 months, Pyke has a clearer understanding for the damage done and what is needsd for the playing group to move forward, the key architects of the camp need to move on for the players to move on...

Hopefully Pyke's decision and string action to resign makes it evsn more difficult for Burton to survive

I just can’t see how Burton survives this. Boys club or not. I’m banking on him, Campo and a few others all to go personally.
I also think that these changes etc won’t be announced in stages and that there will be one large announcement outlining every change in the football dpt headlined with the new senior coach.

Exactly!

On Keath, we have learnt in giving Jenkins a long deal not to do that again.

We give him three years, Doedee comes back we then push Keath out to a more accountable in CHB where he is directly responsible for defending and not so much intercept marking.

He is capable at that. But not great. But it is not his role.

We are then stuck with a guy playing out of position. And we have Butts playing SANFL role.in an actual defensive position. He finished fourth in our BnF.

Three years may not seem like much. And we were all happy when Jenkins resigned for us. But Jenkins is now redundant. And taking the place Fog should have. I think the fear is Keath could end up like this and Butts the actual better option in 2021 and beyond.

Which would leave Keath in 2022 contracted and on good coin playing SANFL with our preferred backline set up being Talia, Butts and Doedee.

I tend to agree

I also believe any announcements will focus more on the future appointments and direction and less on the actual findings of the review

I just want to see action

Yep it will and it’s more about managing the message.

But the reviews done and it should be released without delay so those responsible are exposed, including those who sat by and protected Burton.
