Flanders got a bit of it through the middle in the first champs game but hasn't been able to make huge impacts playing midfield in the TAC cup. If he continues to prove he can play as a midfielder through the champs I'll jump on board, but the last thing we need is another flanker we hope will turn into a midfielder.
He was the highest ranked player on the ground 137 points. From 21 and a goal screams class. Looked pretty comfortable in there. He plays more as a forward at his club which surprised me. Hes kicked a few bags to. You would assume he will spend alot more time in there after the champs. He could be that goal kicking mid that we thought billings would become.

He's definitely one I'll be watching closely. Could be a big bolter if he can make that transition into the midfield really work.

I think the problems lies in their pace. As good as Dunstan has been when he is bad he is really bad because he has no tricks at all. Ross is pretty similar to do but can at least run with the ball. The midfield looks ok individually but as a group it looks very ordinary.

Dunstan by himself has proven to be a contested bull with ordinary disposal and zero spread.
Ross has proven to be an accumulator with very little defensive ability and average disposal.
Steele has proven to be a good shutdown player while also getting his own ball, decent kick, decent mark & seems like could become a high end mid if given the chance not to tag.
Hannebery at 80% of his absolute best is probably better than all three.

All four together, in the one midfield is a disaster. You need to find balance with player A's strength's nullifying player B's weaknesses.

There would be teams out there that would need a bigger bodied/clearance bull like Dunstan and would be willing to overlook his lack of spread because they have plenty of guys that can spread but no one who can win it out to them.

We are currently very same same and it shows.

He will slip down the order imo to 30 or 40 didn't make best 22 for metro.. just looks a ready made afl winger
Byrnes is a pure inside mid and did his hamstring in the trial game the week before which is why he didn’t play last week

inside mid who can go forward. we'd be crazy not list this bloke given the issues with the inside stuff. 13 tackles in a semi final. 32 disposals on the weekend.

22 years of age.
Marshall and King will be the star mids. Gawn won’t hit down to the mids, he will tap up to them. St Kilda is on the verge of changing the way football is played forever.

Wait. What? Ignore me, I fell asleep and was dreaming online.

That's mostly true , though i'm sure we've seen better from Ross.
I agree that teams would want a player like Dunstan, but then we would need a bigger bodied/clearance bull.
Marshall can't do everything. ........can he. ( Marshall is top 4 in the Saints for contested possessions, and most of our mids will never get as many in a game as he did on the weekend ).

Anyone still want to argue that Acres, Sincs, Ross and a few others shouldn't be on the table?
no....I'm onboard

Acres for Langdon - would do

Acres is on the table.
Sinclair just signed an extension which suggests he is in our future plans unless an offer for extreme overs comes at us.
And Ross still won't be, and shouldn't be, on the trade table.

They all seem replaceable to me , Blake is like a Rig , never seems to get the job done , just teases and Sincs he maybe better at the pies

What makes you say Acres is on the table this early in the year?

I can't imagine we'd get a lot for him

All I know is we need a game changing midfielder and if we could secure a Coniglio or Taranto I would look at just about everyone on the team.
Langdon , Zac Jones , Bonar , Miller would be good pick up's but we need to go for elite players.

Really the last couple years we by passed or missed out on Fyfe , Gaff , Shiel , Sloane , Kelly and now our list is in a lot better shape and if we can show we are heading in the right direction I hope we can grab a Coniglio , Taranto or Whitfield with Allan being involved in the signing of all these kids.

Looks like a man child, I can remember being shocked he was an underage player last year.

The young guy certainly has something about him and I think he’ll make it at AFL level, the question is as what. Last year the commentary team went on about how he couldn’t get a run in the midfield because of more senior players like Walsh. I watched the first game on TV he went pretty well but obviously he’s still not a genuine mid, that puts me off him a bit is he the next Petracca.

He looks country strong and can fend players off with ease but it will be interesting to see how he goes in the other games. Rowell and Anderson got plenty of the ball and look like future guns but metro still lost. Serong was good for country and they had a small mid/fwd stocky kid who can really play, clever good brain and knows where the goals are. I was in and out doing things so I didn’t catch it all but my impression was lots of mids and run but not much tall timber.
