You want to be paying a 33 yo ruckman who has done two knees $800 a year , I hope its your money your using . He is great when fit but you would have to doubt him getting back to anywhere near his best
He is one guy I would stay clear of , even when he came back last time he only play minimal time on the ground.
In-demand Swans big man ready to explore trade options

Even with just one game to his name, Darcy Cameron will get plenty of interest from rival clubs - AFL,Sydney Swans,Darcy Cameron,Tag-Trade

ONE-GAME Sydney ruckman Darcy Cameron seems certain to request a trade at season's end, with three rival clubs in the hunt for his services.

The 23-year-old, who stands 205cm, finished runner-up in the 2018 NEAFL most valuable player award, but his sole AFL appearance was in round 18 last year.

Part of Cameron's appeal is his ability to also be a serviceable forward when he's not in the ruck.
Greater Western Sydney has long been the clubhouse leader for Cameron, but Carlton and North Melbourne are muscling their way into the contest with the carrot of him becoming their No.1 ruckman.

He is close with GWS forward Zac Langdon, and also has a friendship with Blues co-captain Patrick Cripps and former Swan Nic Newman.

The Giants plucked Shane Mumford out of retirement to lead their otherwise youthful ruck division this season, while the Kangaroos face the prospect of free agent Todd Goldstein departing.

St Kilda and Essendon are potential landing points for Goldstein, with North putting off discussions about his future until a new coach is hired.

The 2015 All Australian is one of the Roos' highest-paid players and he would almost certainly have to take a pay cut to stay at Arden St.
Matthew Kreuzer remains Carlton's first-choice ruckman and is still performing well, but is injury prone and on the wrong side of 30.

Cameron was already stuck behind Callum Sinclair and injured ruckman Sam Naismith before Sydney recruited South Adelaide big man Michael Knoll in last month's Mid-Season Rookie Draft.

Usual defender Aliir Aliir has even been preferred in the ruck over him at times last year.
Originally drafted from WAFL club Claremont three years ago, Cameron signed a one-year contract extension in early 2017, tying him to the Swans until the end of this season.

A trade deal will need to be reached for him to switch clubs, unless Sydney elects to delist him.

The annual ruck merry-go-round is in full swing, with the Saints keeping their options open to support emerging big man Rowan Marshall.

Goldstein, Port Adelaide's Paddy Ryder and even injured Bomber Sam Draper, who suffered an ACL tear in May, are all understood to be on St Kilda's radar.

Agree we need a capable back up ruck , however whoever we get has to realize they are only going to play in Marshall gets a injury.

As we know they say in the papers they are going after Goldstien , I just feel we could find someone with a bit more longevity , Goldstien is giving his all this year knowing he has to for a extension of contract and being 32 - huge risk , the other one is Ryder , another who is injury prone.

We will be getting Bigun in the draft , but of course he will be development , we also have the big basketball player who is still learning to play football.

Are we better keeping Longer and Pierce - they just seem not good enough , even though Longer may be a better tap ruckman at times.

Jones / Fremantle , Phillips / Carlton , Pittonet / Hawks would be options - but to grab a Goldstien , Ryder , Nic Nat and Martin who are all uncontracted at the end of the year and tell them they will play mostly at Sandringham , I would find it hard they would want to finish there career like that , even then will there body stand up.

They might just end up keeping one of Pierce or Longer and hope Marshall can stay on the park.
Smith from lions would be my pick

Sam Draper would be awesome if we can get him. But no way the Bombers will let him go.

I'm not sure why we want Paddy if he wants to play full-time ruck. Also, he seems to be injured or suspended 90% of the time. Goldstein also wants to play ruck but at least he'll get on the park. Still don't want him though.

I went to the NEAFL game today Sydney Swans v Canberra Demons. I know its difficult to compare that form to AFL but Sydney have picked up an absolute steal @ pick 25 last year in James Rowbottam. Another St Kevins boy its a wonder we werent all over him. He plays a strong quick skilled mid with a real strut and confidence about him for a kid. Looks like a smaller quicker Dale Lewis. Was BOG Imo kicked 3 x ripping goals and would have about 30 touches and gave plenty in a couple of stinks.

Another midfielder who impressed me was an ex Frankston player playing for Canberra in Alex Smout. 24 y/o who is a good size and has pace and skill. Originally played as a wingman but has obviously filled out because he looks a good size now.

Darcy Cameron played and gave Swans first use but wouldnt say he was dominated the game.

Out of curiosity, why do you think Robbie Young was selected in the National Draft but Cal Wilkie wasn't?
Has Young played through the middle before? With his natural attributes of toughness and speed, and he builds up his tank could he become a Michael Walters type player?

Not as long as his ass points to the ground he wont , not in the same league as Walters

Ps , sorry mate not having a go at you specifically but this is why we are so crap , a fringe player at best and we think its possible he could be a gun like Walters , we need to stop overrating our players

Ummm how we rate them here ..doesn't make the team crap.
I agree he's a fringe player at best , but i don't think anyone's contrary opinion has any power outside this thread. Or is he using "the force" on the selectors.

You can have a third rounder and Zaharakis forward a second rounder

I'd take him but we don't have a second rounder :(. I know....Jack Newnes is a stunning talent, but for such a good player as Zaharakis, i'd let him go.

( late last decade i kind of wished we'd got him instead of Tom Lynch ).

Alright, need some bigger, mature bodies around the ground with leadership and a bit of class or x factor through the middle. I'd like to see us go for;

Paddy Ryder, Jarryd Roughead, Matthew Kreuzer, Jack Martin, Stephen Coniglio (lol, I know). 1 of those given what we've shown on field would be a win. I'd like to keep our first round pick.

Do people really think cogs is coming to this club [emoji1787][emoji23][emoji1787]

No.

Option 1. The job is Marshalls
Option 2. Don't waste time considering options as option 1 is the only smart option and focus on midfielders.

^^ So much this. Just draft a rookie ruck or take a dfa for emergencies. Play Marshall and forget about the rest.

It’s midfielders we need to bring in by any means available and we should have done so the last 2-3 years.

Fremantle are looking to lock away out-of-contract defender Griffin Logue as a number of rival clubs monitor the situation, according to the Herald Sun.

After battling injuries in 2018, the 21-year old made a return to the senior team last week to replace the injured Alex Pearce, collecting 24 disposals and taking eight marks.

The Dockers are reportedly “desperate” to keep Logue and see him as a key part of their long-term future.

However, several rival clubs, including St Kilda, are expected to come calling should he hold out signing a new deal in the second half of the season.

Logue is one of nearly 20 Dockers to come out of contract at the end of the season, in a list that includes Stephen Hill, David Mundy, Harley Bennell, Hayden Ballantyne, Aaron Sandilands, Shane Kersten and Cam McCarthy.

That’s good, we definitely need more tall backs. Once we convert Maxie King into a CHB and send Marshall back to defence full time, we’ll only have about 14. Definitely need more.
