We jave been talking about crisp because of similarities to hinge.... and for the record crisp averaged nearly 20 touches a game as a 20 y.o. for us when he got moved in the trade to collingwood. He showed plenty of potential.

I wasn't commenting on Hinge - haven't watched nearly enough ressies games to have any opinion on him.

Over 6 games in 2014 he averaged 18 touches. He then quadrupled his total disposal numbers the next year with collingwood (up to 22 per game), and massively increased the quality of his disposals too.

I'm not saying that it was impossible to see talent there - personally I thought he'd be a decent long-term league player. But the idea that you could see him having AA potential escapes me - if you did, you clearly have a greater eye for talent than most people.

The beams trade ended up being a waste for us. But I think Crisp perhaps reflects more on the quality of our development and how much better players are in stronger teams, than in a list management failure. Which isn't exactly a positive reflection on the club either!

Agree with most of what you are saying. Just saying collingwood targeted Crisp, he was no steak knife add on as was widely suggested and they have helped develope him beautifully. I spoke to a recruiter at the time once deal was done so i had some inside running on it. Was good deal for pies. They were pleased and jack has paid them back in spades. Goodluck to him. My point is that i think Hinge could be another Jack Crisp if he doesnt get a look in soon. I really like Hinge and hope he gets some games under his belt soon.

iirc they were initially talking about Aish and maybe someone else (polec??) and at the time we thought they would be good for us and eventually it settled over the Crisp ... he certainly wasn't mentioned in the first round of talks etc unless the Pies were just asking for what they knew we wouldn't give while casually not looking over in the corner at their real target who they knew better than we did would be better than the other guys ... there is a rather large thread about it during that trade period if you really feel like a read full of drama and ultimatums and tantrums (and then we get to move on from the Pies recruiting staff!) plenty of emotions running around from the fans as well...

Aish, redden, Hanley were names leaked by the pies to the media that they had asked for. It was a shit show.

I think Derek Hine liked Crisp though so once we got past the stupid ultimatum he helped finalise it.

I think you are bang on. I recall being asked my casual opinion by a recruiter on crisp as trade period started that year but didnt know he was a genuine target of the pies until bit later.

I wonder if our recent form will entice a big name or 2. Perhaps not even a big name just in possies we lack.

Watching VFL on 7 Doggies vs Willy. Reuben Williams running rings around Willy. Could be an attacking quick HBF option. Has put on size. The Shack not doing much
Have you watched much of the NEAFL this season Laz? If so how does he compare to and who would you prefer Reuben or Keidean Coleman?

Reuben is now a strong speedy backman where I think Coleman may best be suited further up the ground where he can expose the opp with his speed and skill. Worry about Colemans lack of size down back. Nice to have both for different reasons. Certainly would add pace to our outfit.

Had a really strange conversation with an Uber driver last night who claimed to be Ken Hinkley's cousin. He was adamant that a big name Brisbane Lion's forward will be traded to South Australia in return for another player who is supposedly a gun also.

I just had a look through their list and the only ones I would want are a few of the younger guys like Rozee and Duursma, deal done- McStay for Rozee and Duursma.

There was a little bit of talk recently about us being interested in Willem Drew (not sure of the spelling) he is close friends with both Berry and Clugga?

Define gun? Pretty certain McStay is neither a gun or a big name...but I am guessing Jenkins is probably the forward ....as we were previously interested and he now cant get a game...perhaps good friend of Charlie. If him...we have enough of his type in the wings so no ty.

This is the thread that opposition supporters read then go back to their own board, saying “lolz, brions fans think they can get <insert gun player here>”. I know it’s fun to dream, but maybe keep one foot grounded in reality.
