Who are we giving WCE for Cameron?
Not sure I would offer up any more than a pick similar to what we bid on him with last year and where WC ended up taking him.
So a late 2nd rounder at best!

McStay is a really interesting one. We've spent a lot of time and effort and suffered through all those growing pains to get him to the level his is at the moment which i consider to be right on the edge of being able to be in the top 15ish kpf in the comp. He's so damn close, albeit he's seemed to be there abouts for over half a season now. This year going forward is where you start getting a real return out of that sort of player, and trading that away for a good bit not great mid would be one of the more disappointing trades we would have had in the past 3-4 years. We don't really have anyone on your list to fill the role he plays so we'd be going backwards or trading for another forward which would seem strange.

As for McStay himself he's gone through all the hard times here with a bunch of guys he's really close to, and then just as it's on the up and footy is starting to be really enjoyable he leaves and starts all over again with a bunch of people he doesn't know with a team that could go either way at the moment. It's not impossible but unlikely. Also of I was a key forward and the dogs were interested in me I'm not sure I'd be jumping out of my skin. They haven't really shown much ability to maximise key forwards or use them effectively in their game plan over the last few handfuls of years.

I can see a club making him an offer that we would be hesitant to match, not quite a godfather offer but bloody good coin IMO. It'll come down to what the difference is in the offers and if Daniel would stay with us for less.

I'd love him to be locked up within the next few weeks.

He's our priority re-signing by some distance imo. Stef and M Robbo the other two out of contract players who have played all senior games but Dan's in a position of scarcity and has at least 6 years of the prime of his career left. At a minimum I'd want to tie him up for another 3 years.

While the goal kicking is still an issue his impact in general play up forward has skyrocketed this season - we would really, really miss him if he left.

I'd be filthy if McStay left. If we actively pursued a trade, I'd call it madness given where our list is at. If he wanted out, I'd be angry that we've put in the development time (and showed an inordinate amount of patience), only to see him walk out when it is starting to bear fruit.

You never say never to a player trade but, gee, it would want to be awfully favourable.

Yeah i'd be pretty annoyed given all we've put into him if he turned around and left for a fair bit more cash. Don't think it eventuates though tbh. The only way I would envisage us actively letting him go is if we got a similar player in return or as part of a deal, but then you're just swapping similar assets around and for someone who doesn't know our gameplan and style so is an unknown if we can fit them. Its just one of those set of circumstances where I just couldnt see it making sense for any party and it would seem to only by dollars that would make sense of it.

I would trade McStay for Jeremy Cameron and a pick in the top 10. Possibly Jeremy Cameron and Adam Tomlinson would do the trick. Adam is versatile and is about to enter his prime.

Jeremy Cameron could be... awkward. His first day would be interesting. Potentially humorous scenario - Basti leaves, opening up the No. 4, locker buddy M Robbo next door at No. 5.

I reckon Starcevich is probably one of the few players they’d accept. And I say that within reason if you know what I mean.
I'd forgot Starcevich is from WA, that would be a difficult choice, Jarrod Cameron or Brandon Starcevich  .

I don't think the club would do it, from all the talk he is rated very highly by the coaching group although we know how valuable small fast pressuring x factor forwards are.

I'd keep Starce. Fills a need more than Cameron.

Cameron's played one game, and was a second round pick - Starce was a 1st and probably has more value.

Anyway its all a moot point as there is no indication that Jarrod is interested in leaving WA and there is no chance WCE will ever trade a player a year into their draftee contract. Clubs don't do it except in exceptional circumstances.

What are people's thoughts on Zak Jones? Uncontacted at the end of the year. Has pace but can be a pretty ordinary kick. Would he be an upgrade on Matho if used in the midfield? Would only cost cap space...

I would, not sure he is a free agent so would require a pick. I don’t look at it as someone to replace but more to adding to a list.

We did bid on Cameron Jnr last draft.. Rioli probably back this week so he might be dropped
And yes I watched that whole game to see how he went :) He did really well for a first game.

Depends on what the eagles need and what we have it could happen. If not this year maybe next. They will need some picks for Kelly this year.
So could want to trade down a first pick for something lower.

Seems like Brad Hill is gettable. He personally denied the Hawks rumours but there is a lot of smoke around that he is considering departing the Dockers. Was linked to us last year and I doubt those rumours were unsubstantiated. Has connections with Fagan, Hodge and Neale and also hung out with Charlie and Robbo recently. Is exactly what our team needs as that fast, gut running, elite wing with quality skills. We should be doing everything we can to recruit him to the Lions. Would improve our team immensely. Get him in a room with Fagan, Noble, Swann, Hodge, Neale and Cameron asap.

Peter Bell feather in the cap Round 2. Fagnob with the K.O.

I thought he wanted to leave because his partner is from Victoria and homesick. Opposite situation as Tim Kelly, and if I were Freo I'd be using Hill in the package for Kelly if the rumours are true.

From memory those rumours re the link to us were from either Greg Denham or Hagdorn, i.e. incredibly inaccurate sources. I think it was Denham actually and he had heard we were interested in a Freo player and he took a swing and a miss at it - Lachie Neale was reported by Sam McClure a couple of days later.

Would be a great get obviously but there is no legit link to us at the moment, whereas there does appear to be a clear link back to Victoria.

Gee I hope you're right. IMO he would have just as big an impact on our ability to play quality footy as Charlie Cameron and Lachie Neale have.

What a back to back to back 3peat of trade periods would that be.

Yep it was Denham: https://www.theaustralian.com.au/sp...l/news-story/165d17340341a0f3b949ba2b8aafd505

I'm 100% certain he heard rumours about us being interested in a freo midfielder and just threw a dart at a name and hoped it would stick.
