Honestly can not see a team trading pick 5 or 6 for our first two picks.

The one possible pick trade to move up the draft I could see, is if GWS can't move their first two picks (currently 9 & 15) to move up to pick 4 (to get a pick in before a bid is made on Tom Green), they might trade their Essendon pick 9 for our picks 17 & 19, with a later pick coming back our way. And that's not really trade I'd be inclined to do, unless we're targeting a particular kid who we believe it's worth over paying for.

I'd be stunned if we don't use either the Pies or GC pick in a player trade, which would pretty much rule out moving up the draft order. Can't see how we would be able to move up a sufficient amount to make a difference without throwing in future picks which I don't want to do either.

yep we are on the way up getting Neale, Adams and McCarthy last year and Cameron the year before I say we targeting someone.
We do not need another kid who may or may not make it as window opening the next 3-5 years.
End of first round picks not always a player who gets into the 22 straight away.
Some do slide like Clark and Duursma.

If you wanna see poor goal kicking you should see some of Skinner's efforts in the 2s this year

0.5, 0.2, 0.0, 4.1, 0.1, 0.0, 2.0, 2.0, 3.0 (I don't have stats on shots that missed everything)

I guess that first one sticks in the mind, but honestly, since then, I would think 11.4 is a pretty good strike rate.

I believe you have to find a balance between trade and draft.

Hopefully our academy tips the draft balance in our favour at some point.

you think we pickup Coleman and Reville looked out from what I seen.
No idea who we pickup I say another A grader you would hope.

I’ve no idea if we’re likely to pick up any academy kids in the draft, or who we’re likely target come trade time.

I wouldn’t mind having a look at Toby McLean from the dogs. Seems a bit out of favour this year, but is tough and can play multiple roles. Don’t think he fits a particular need, but I rate his talent and a fresh change of scenery could be good for him. Maybe involve him in a swap for Cutler? I have the feeling Hawthorn is also a club that might look at Cuts, as they have a history of getting the best out of most of the players they trade in.

Another player we should be looking at poaching is Jack Martin. Hasn’t lived up to the hype yet, but is starting to play some more consistent football. Could be a jack of all trades for us and can play on any line. I really like his versatility and in our club environment, he could be anything. Would people be happy to use our first 2 picks (as they currently stand) on him?

Probably a year early, but I’d be looking to reunite the Cameron boys at the end of 2020. They would drag a lot of bums to seats and would be electric to watch. I have a feeling Charlie would be in his ear.

I’d give it about a 1% chance, but Cogs from GWS would be the ultimate get. Combine his 2 way running with Zorko and we would have a deadly combination there. Unfortunately for us he is either Vic bound or staying a Giant.

More just thinking aloud as the trade period is far from my mind at the moment. But for the first time in a long time, we can offer more than just good weather. We can offer the chance to play in a potential premiership. For lots of players, this is the biggest selling point of all. I trust that Nobes and co will have something in the works and pull off a bumper trade this offseason!

Take it to the bank- David Noble, Dom Ambrogio and Stephen Conole will execute a bumper trade for us this off season, whether that is an A grade to elite player in or a trade up the draft order involving one of our players and/or future/2019 picks remains to be seen.

Our current 1st 3 selections in this years draft are- 17, 19 and 32.

Maybe a team like the Saints or Bulldogs could be interested eg. our 17 and 19 for 5 or 6, draft points in those scenarios slightly favor the Saints and Dogs.

OR

Tom Cutler + 17 for the Swans pick 7. That values Cutler and pick 31.
From what I've heard, the club is pretty keen on taking our early pick to the draft. I imagine you guys would have better luck dealing with the Saints in that scenario, since it's in their best interest to try get some decent young mids, and the first round bats pretty deep. They're better with two first over just the one imo, just don't think that would happen with the Dogs

Rumours of Saints being interested in Toby. He's contracted until 2022, but he signed on when he was among our starting mids. Now, with Libba back and Smith already in our 22, it leaves far less opportunity for him. He's too good to be wasted up forward or in the VFL, so if he requested a trade I wouldn't blame him.

Although Cutler is the last type of player we'd need; On second thought, his speed and kicking ability would be pretty good assets in our side. Maybe not so crazy of a suggestion

Lewy Taylor or Dan McStay both far more likely in my opinion (if either seek out a trade, that is)

I like seeing victorian clubs having players nominate interstate clubs such as Port (Fantasia) this early in the year. The journos and tongue waggers can follow all that nonsense and we can do what we do best with Fagnob.

5 points in a downpour in Darwin is not great but....gee whiz....11.4 for a goal kicking defender. Love it!

They don't include out of bounds on the full. When he misses, he misses big.

If we do make the finals this year then we are definitely in the premiership window in 2020. I have a feeling we will go very hard for a big name trade on that basis and our case will be that much more convincing.

Mcstay is a shocking kick for goal . He takes the mark 25 metres out directly infront and I tell the wife I’m off to get a beer because he will miss . Come back 20 seconds later and the opposition are kicking our or defence . This has happened a good 20 times this year I reckon .

My take away from that is that your fridge is too far from the telly.

What about Riley O’Brien from Adelaide as a long term replacement for Stef? If he gets forced out of Adelaide, with the possibility of Grundy going there!
I know Stef has probably got another good year in him, but it would be good to get another Ruckman on the list at the end of this year.
I think him and ‘O’ could work well together?

I quite like what I've seen of him this year but I suspect Adelaide will offload Jacobs first, given IIRC he's been fit and in the 2nds.

Jack Martin is who we should be chasing . Lives in Queensland already wouldn’t be huge adjustment connection with Don aswell . Would be pretty handy having him and luggage as our wingers .
