LIONS WANT TO DANCE WITH BILLY ELLIOTT
AFL.com.au's Mitch Cleary has reported that Brisbane has emerged as a smokey in the race for Collingwood free agent Jamie Elliott. After finishing second in the home and away season in 2019, the Lions are looking for more firepower to assist their rise for next year. The Lions have joined Melbourne and Hawthorn in the pursuit of Elliott.

Would be a great get.

Gotta think success with Elliot would mean Bundy is gone

Our Fwd line would be near unstoppable if we had a full fit Jamie Elliot, his speed and marking ability along side Hipwood, McStay, Cameron, Rayner and McCarthy would be extremely dynamic. A lot of speed and high marking ability from the smaller mids, would be exciting to watch.

You'd have to think he would prefer to stay in Melbourne but we may be the only one's with the cap space to pay him the money he wants.

My guess is that this is a conversation that they would have had - mutual respect...
Not that it matters cause we are just passing time but I'm a bit slow what is the context I don't follow. We surely wouldnt want to be negotiating bundys departure?

I don’t know what to think of Elliott. Maybe if he played a full season of good football in the last few years I’d be convinced. But he’s more than handy, can’t be picky with talented players like that.

Thanks for that. 60m kicks sound good as we've just lost one of those with Dave Myers. Fingers crossed we land a beast and keep JD. maybe too much to ask.
I'm pretty sure I watch every game of our reserve grade this year either live or online and one player I paid particular attention to was Cutler given the melt downs from supporters over him not being selected. He looks great in flight, runs hard and attracts attention. He get a lot of ball on the outside and can roost it for miles which looks spectacular. That is why supporters love him. Now take the other side of that, the kicks go for miles, I however watched if they landed to advantage or hit a leading forward on the chest - NO. He is not a Daniel Rich or if you remember him josh Drummond who can hit a target. My view he blasts away a bit without looking. While he gets a lot of ball on the outside from the in-and-under players when caught out one on one I'm not sure he wins many and you will also see him dancing around the ruck area waiting for the ball to come out and if there was an opportunity to get hi and get it he misses that opening. His tackling is good, he can do it but bless his cotton socks does not make enough when in defence, you might say he likes being on the outside for the turnover. He is however a great looking rooster, very marketable. Seems like a nice bloke, maybe a bit o the other and that's just because i don't see him in a lot of social media posts then he hasn't been travelling with the 1sts. He does have upside just not into our game plan.

Let's fly McArthy and Adams down to have a chat with him about how we get players health levels better than they have been and out onto the paddock playing consistent footy.

If we get Elliot, surely this would mean that Bundy is gone...like for like?
Not sure they are like for like. Elliott plays tall and Bundy is more your small half forward type.

I can't help but feel, Elliot is quite similar in playstyle to McCarthy. Anyone else get the same impression? High flyers who are not tall enough to be a KPP, but not short enough to be a genuine small forward.

Both high flyers but Mccarthy definitely more of a flanker who can jump from behind or the side if he gets a sit.

Jamie is a great leading forward who demands the ball on the lead and really jumps at it. More of a traditional full forward but obviously small. His size, speed and agility also make him dangerous at ground level too for 2nd efforts when he doesn't. Also a better front and centre rumber off the talls imo than Linc although not his main strength.

I think if we do wind up with Elliot it signals a change of role for each of McCarthy, Rayner and Christensen. Elliot is a little like Cameron in that he plays his best when there's space around him.

If we're intending to play Cameron and Elliot in the same team, it forces every other small forward further up the ground.
