When Darren Bennett was with the Weagles he was dropped to the WAFL ressies and kicked about 21.5 - against the Cardies I think.

Or was it for the Cardies. They did strange things in those days with regard to player relegation from VFL to WAFL.

the Honeymoon is over for the new boys and they’re all out there this morning. They all joined the early drills before moving onto their separate running programs with Darcy and Conca.
Hogan and Tucker on light duties. Both did the sandpit before having a quick kick. Hogan seems to be doing more and more kickingeach session.
Sonny and Collyer in the gym.
Didn’t see Kersten,McCarthy,Meek, Pearce or Bennell but I have a history of missing the odd one or two
S Hill and Mundy doing a heap of running. Mundy didn’t seem keen to kick the Ball early but that may not mean anything.
Loving the intensity of some of our forwards at training. Cox looks fit and switched on, swita buzzing around everywhere and Tabs looking great.
Of the newbies, Sturt looked a bit nervous and shanked a few early. Valente was put in Sandis group doing clearance work which is awesome. He has an awesome kick on both legs.
Absolutely love Schulz. He runs through the ball when marking over head and has incredibly strong hands and intensity that could teach the older boys a thing or two.
Bewley ran down B Hill at full speed which is very impressive.
Lots of short sharp pressure drills where the skills looked great under intense pressure.
I left early again so hopefully the other viewers can shed light on the last part of the session and, of course, the loads that I missed.

Thanks for the insights. Would love to hear a bit more on Sturt from anyone that was there for a bit longer.

More tackles. And long kicks to.. no where. He better play more into the 50. He’s wasted in the centre rebounding from defence.
LOL Matera...long kicks.... hmmm? the main reason he needs to stay in the forward fifty is so his kicks can actually make it to the goals haha

Lobb is going to be good. He had a bit of mongrel about him. I love that in a player.
Where have you seen that? I hope you are right. It would be a massive asset if he can make some opposition defenders nervous. He's OUR giant now, and I want him to clobber someone.

Ive seen a few giants games and he isnt scared of anything.

I have read on BF before that he is scared of his shadow. But what i saw was Dawson like haha

It was 23.5 and one OOB. He wasn't dropped but was first game back from injury after a long lay off (9-10 weeks).

Still the best Australian to play as a punter in the NFL.

Reckon Michael Dickson is having something to say about that! Pretty much setting new standards for the position.

When was the last time Hilly was totally fit and healthy? We’re missing what he’s got to offer.

Still, just as well we had a review of our sports science, I’m sure with the improvements the club have made we’ll sort him out sooner rather than later. Bennell too.
Never really - he's never realised his potential.

Such a shame. He looked like being a star after his first 2 seasons. Going to be hard to overcome this chronic complaint as he ages. But as I say, we’ve got some of the best facilities in the world at Cockburn so who knows.
It's the medical staff running the facilities I'm concerned about.

I think the medical team is on way thinner ice than Ross. TBH our management of soft tissue injuries appears substandard. What happened with Hill last yr was crazy and they appear no closer to understanding his load management issues. To late to clean out this yr.

Thinking about it why are seasoned players doing a 4 wk training block then having 2 weeks off? You would lose most of the training effect anyway. Seems pointless.

I'd be far more disappointed if we had a situation like Geelong have with Zack Tuohy where he went on his off-season break talking about how the Irish guys are going to play for their county when they go home so the AFL clubs should just get used to it, while he was supposed to be resting a knee niggle and now has come back with a sore knee so he has gone for surgery to tidy it up.

Dale Thomas who was told to guard his ankle in the off-season so it can heal up and be ready for preseason, decides to go on a surfing trip and comes back to the club with the ankle still sore so he goes for surgery and misses most of the year - never the same player again.
