Doerre gets fixated on certain players. Interesting to me that he completely ignored the fact that Jesse Hogan kicked 39 goals in 15 games at VFL state level whilst he was an underage listed player at Melbourne, in a season where the competition at the level was a lot stronger than a compromised WAFL season without AFL affiliated players. Instead he compares him to two players from an era before professionalism to its current extent had hit the Under 18 competitions, who additionally had to compete in U18 national carnivals which would have precluded them from playing senior footy.

Every chance mcdonald kicks 39 goals for perth this year if he played the extra games that hogan did that season. Let's not also pretend that hogan was an average footballer . Before his injuries, testicular cancer and offield issues he was looking like one of the better kpf's in the modern era.

‘maybe it’s designed to make sure they pick Campbell.

‘Wright saying top six or seven - interesting. It may just be best available. Inside mid like Phillips possibly but might be the one having most internal competition for spots, but did I read he can spend time forward? Might be a way to be introduced.
‘if he’s best available.

I swear there was confirmation somewhere that we couldn't trade pick 24 to Norf as it was their pick originally and there's a rule against that?

Surely Cal should know that.

There's no real point in bidding at #4 given Swans will definitely match, Unless it's just us making them pay a premium.

If Campbell is actually a target only way to get him is to jump Sydney.
Well we didn’t take up the north offer so one way or other we don’t think that improves our position.

If we end up taking a KPP with 4, I really hope we find a way to get another pick before Downie.
It sounds like next year we're going to have access to an elite mid with our first pick, so I wouldn't be surprised if we're willing to move on later picks from next year to try and creep up this year to grab a first round quality player who might have more versatility.
Who is this elite mid next year, must be a Father/Son?

The only player we have been linked to that I don’t particularly want (at 4) is Perkins. Which means you can guarantee we will take him at 4 and he will end up an absolute superstar making me looks once again stupid.

If the price to move up is just pick 24, why not jump Sydney and bid for campbell.

Then if Swans decide to match trade our future first for their pick #3 as their #3 is now useless.

Take DGB & McDonald.

Bigfooty will implode if that happens. :$:thumbsu:

Have to say that the "interstate clubs need not apply" attitude isn't something I love in a player. If you really wanted to be a successful footy player you'd do it anywhere.

The players wanting to stay in their home state is an interesting one. Doesn’t happen to any other sport that I can think of.
They could raise the draft age for anyone who doesn’t feel ready to move interstate.

Its not all bad though is it?

Yeah I don't like that attitude.

I still like him as a player though. If he comes to us he will be seen as a future star. If he goes to the bombers I will see him as a mummy's boy [emoji23]

More based on the assumption of us having a top 10 pick in a year stacked with mids.
Most have us in the frame for a top 5 pick (which would give us a crack at Horne, Sonsie or Sinn)

I'm pretty sure we do have a couple of father son's but I'm not sure if they're mids/in the round one frame.

Probably because in other sports with a draft, the money is enough of a factor and travel is easier. They're also drafted older than 18.

You need to find a StKilda supporting mate and get a few tips on how to handle the countdown to the biggest night of their year, they have had plenty of practice.

Personally don't stress about what you can't change, me just excited about all and everyone we select tonight.
