Allison is one of the quintessential high-upside talents available in this year’s draft and is one who could well thrive in an elite environment. His most obvious improvement areas are ones which can be easily developed over a few preseasons and alongside high-level established talent, so perhaps clubs with the capacity to take on those prospective kind of players will look at Allison closely

When you actually read the piece it sounds a lot like Danny Mack. Pace, Endurance, adaptability, high upside....low output. Hope he makes it regardless. A forward who kicked 2 goals in the whole of 2019 and averages 1 mark a game doesn't sound very exciting but maybe he's got something else.

So we have 3 rookie picks yes? But the plan is to only use 2 then keep a spot for the preseason/midseason signings.

I'd like us to grab a ruck.

Corey Gault as a mature age option - https://www.wafl.com.au/player/corey-gault

or one of the young boys:

Max HEATH
Clubs:
Sandringham Dragons/Vic Metro
Position: Ruck
Size: 203cm/94kg

The Victorian looms as one of the better ruck prospects despite being one of the little known prospects ahead of the draft. Heath had some eye-catching moments over the pre-season, with 2020 set to be a big year for the tall. But unfortunately clubs weren’t able to see as much as they had hoped of the competitive beast. He is willing to tackle hard to win the ball back and is able to be a marking target close to goal. His endurance is a work in progress but he is the perfect player who can develop in an elite program.

HENRY WALSH
Clubs:
Geelong Falcons/Vic Country
Position: Ruck
Size: 203cm/87kg
Walsh is one of the best ruck prospects in the country and could find a home late in the draft. He is the brother of Carlton’s No.1 draft pick Sam, with the tall having completely different traits to the midfielder. He is a good player at ground level and wins a number of clearances with his follow-up work. He was expected to have a huge role at state and NAB League level, but hasn’t been able to show how much he has developed in 12 months.
Heath already drafted IIRC.

True but it seems he didn't play forward that much. Looks like he was going to a permanent forward this year but like all the Vics only got a couple of practice games.

"That was somewhat proven in his preseason performances, which yielded far better numbers and provided a glimpse into Allison’s eye-catching, high-marking potential."

Based on size, weight and combine testing - is it too much to ask that his bio says "He plays like Gringo's favorite forward from the Doggies"

Just had a look, could've sworn I heard him taken last night. I did zone out during parts of it admittedly though, coverage was shocking.

Two rucks? Would probably take Heath & best available midfielder.

Nah, sorry, just listing the 3 rucks I see as being in contention. Would be happy enough with any of those and then a mature age/ready to play mid or small forward.

Gotta laugh of the clowns on here carrying on at anyone questioning the picks, especially the ones known for melting like an 8 year old kid.

It's a ******* footy forum, none of us know more than the recruiters but the whole point of the place is to give opinions.

I'm not upset with either of our picks, more surprised.
Decent melt. 5 stars.

Makes you wonder what goes on in the Walsh household . 184 cm and 203 cm Hmmmmmm

As much as picking someone like Matty Allison maybe a shock to some of you , His dad is Best mates with a good friend of mine , my mate sent me an email this morning saying we have got a good one and that he is a great young guy as well , He also told me that Matty had several interviews with the club so he was clearly being on the radar and in no way just a speculative pick , they have been keeping tabs on him for a while so they must have a specific reason for drafting him
.
It just goes to show even the ones who may think they know what the club is doing are just like the rest of us on here ,,, Have no idea

My mate said he could also play as a mid but at this stage more suited as a forward
