A good reference point for picks.

Cameron is not leading us to a premiership. He might be happier when he wins another coleman and a premiership.
One of the best rebounding backmen in the league and has 5 years of great footy left in him. Durable, does the 1 percent stuff, tackles well, quick line breaker and pretty neat by foot. I don't recall him making too many clangers either. He is absolutely worth pick 8 in a weaker draft imo.

100% yes. Nash played.Yeah, but do you reckon Irving would have got a game by now at the Hawks? I'm dubious.
Or, we can trade 24 out, match with later picks, then trade 25 back in.Hawthorn won't match on Downie if we believe better players are available, simply isn't how we operate.
No, AFL stopped that loophole once Sydney did itOr, we can trade 24 out, match with later picks, then trade 25 back in.
That’s the benefit of having the later picks, especially if were only planning on bringing 3 players in.
Thoughts on late trade:
Collingwood out: Phillips, pick 16, 2021 1st pick
Hawks out: Gunston, pick 23
Dependant Treloar going to Dogs and Phillips taking a 3/4 year deal at $450k per season
I hope Gunston stays but we need to trade up somehow into the first round so we get to use 3rd rounders on Downie. What do we have to trade to get there and is Narkle from Geelong still an option for a 3rd rounder?Still with the Gunston trades??

It'll happen , they'll make two of those a top 10 pick with a sweetener to get it done .Cameron will go to cats. If they serious about premiership contention while Danger and aging list still there, they would be fidiots to miss out on Cameron because they refused to give up 13 and 15 (which is what GWD want) and offered only 15 and 20. He will get there.

Not Walker, kosiHasn't worked out for us so far. If Irving hadn't done his ACL i'm sure the thread would already have been created about how we passed on him only to end up with Walker who doesn't look likely to ever play a senior game of AFL football.

Not the worst trade floated. I think we come a long way out on top with this- especially as I'm expecting the Wobbles to fall a bit next year.Thoughts on late trade:

Given you can trade back when a bid comes in we might be better off just holding onto pick 23 if is going to cost too much trading up.I hope Gunston stays but we need to trade up somehow into the first round so we get to use 3rd rounders on Downie. No doubt in my mind. We lack x-factor up forward. Would have played 10+ games for us this season.
No current season stats available
Great insight but that is my point. If we want Downie as a free hit and we have 3 x 3rd round picks in a weak draft (based upon the journos opinions) then why are we not trading up to get a second 1st rounder when we are in rebuild mode. We should also try and get another 1st or 2nd rd pick in next years draft. Go hard at the draft for 2 years then top up with free agents and we are back in the game. Some can argue we could have finished top 8 if not for the hubs but the reality is our lust is old and we need speed and young star power.Given you can trade back when a bid comes in we might be better off just holding onto pick 23 if is going to cost too much trading up.
Downie is no certainty to be bid before our pick and if he did we just trade back (prob get a little screwed in compensation). But someone we rate in eg top 15 could slide to our pick and then we’ve done really really well. If downie bid comes too early we might not even match depending on who else is on board.

We are not getting rid of Gunston.
