Getting in with my guess at Rounds 14-18 before the AFL beat me to it:

Trying to guess at who's playing where. Rumoured that Fremantle and Sydney will be the teams to go to Cairns, although Fremantle will have played nine home games by the time they get there so they'll have to be the "away" team.

Hopefully Essendon and/or Melbourne are still mathematically in the running for finals by the final day, otherwise that Monday night game will be an absolute fizzer.

Had a bit of a thought - in a regular season the bye week means at worst a team has an 11 day break (Sunday to Friday the week after). Richmond will play Gold Coast after a 9 day break. Is there a chance the AFL count this as the “bye” and not actually schedule one for Richmond or other teams in this situation? I’m certainly not against it and Hardwick has consistently said a six day break is easier to manage than an eight day break.

It does leave a bit of flexibility in the draw of a few teams as well if they have to travel to Perth for example and quarantine.

There are 18 ‘rounds’ so there has to be a bye.
That doesn’t mean it has to be a long break. WCE and Freo had a bye but it was only an 8 day break.

Richmond West Coast on the first Thursday at Metricon apparently. Puts West Coast on a 4 day break.

If true, then prepare for the price of salt to drop again.

Surely it'll be the WAh's number 1 export soon.

What a joke. Brisbane and GC don't even leave QLD again? 2 away games all year??????? Why are they not at least to play in Adelaide or Perth against teams they haven't played yet???
The suns have played one game in geelong and two games in Sydney.

And we are playing in darwin next friday. And away at the gabba ( a ground we play once a year even tho its 100km away)

For the Suns for example, we may still need to go to Adelaide in the final round to play Hawthorn.

It is the same as if we were Richmond or Collingwood in a normal season- the difference is the away games ARE NOT played at our home ground.

Brisbane have to fly up to Cairns btw mate and next week we are off to Darwin.

So that's 4 away games for the season (Gabba doesn't count)....how many WC/Freo/Adel/PA play? Given they can play at home?

The same? No the difference is GC plays an "away game" at a ground 100km from their home and 3000km from the oppositions home.

gabba does indeed count, how is that in any way a home game? we dont play there other than once a year for away clash. no familiarity. we play at marvel stadium more often than that in a normal year.

and the teams we are playing at the gabba (richmond and collingwood) are hubbing here so its a neutral game if anything as they play at gabba as much as we do (more this year!)

our game v brisbane there is clearly an away game
